the bike is finally in a rideable condition, i'm just waiting for my next pay check so i can go and get it a nice o-ring chain. Then its phase two - getting on the road (shop work, VIN etc) the phase three is saving up for buying a full fairing set (top and front gaurd needed) and painting. I should have it out on the road for a ride by the end of February if not before.

Pic one shows the proud owner/builder/mug and the trusty steed

Pic two shows the how it looks from the front, the fairing piece is wonky because it was crashed before i bought it therefore the mounts are out of place slightly.

cost so far is around the $1500 mark at the moment, goal is to be on the road with full fairings for less than $2000 but it looks like im gonna need a new rear brake disc and possible new tire on the back so it could end up reaching the $2500 mark

Also big thanks to affman for his help with getting it running, and shandawg for all the parts hookups (you've saved me heaps) also to anyone else that has offered advice and tips, you guys rock :Punk:

i am seriously considering going street fighter, but it looks like it'll cost me about $1000 for the parts i need/want like projected lights, anodized bits, different mirrors, risers, and the rest...

still, i will be keeping the front fairing piece when it gets the new fairings so that i can change it back for some indecent exposure if i feel the need.

i'm kinda thinking of going towards the ducati red/white yellow/white style but i'll have to do some more looking around

What have you had to do so far to get it to the stage it's at now?

How many k's has it done?

I wanna streetfighter my CBR

Already taken the side fairings off (as I didn't want to hurt them) and I'm planning to make my own under engine exhaust at school this year. I don't know what else you have to do to make a streefighter though :spudwhat:

basically its just been putting it together, it came as an engine, forks, swingarm, rear subframe, exhaust and can. Put it all together with nuts and bolts supplied (with far too many left over).

I got the hugger, and tripple clamps from shandawg (big ups to this man)

Got a few other small pieces from the shops (action and atomic)

I've drained the carbs, changed the oil and filter, probably gonna get the shock rebuilt/replaced if it gets checked for VIN.

Still to happen is finishing preping it for paint (getting it done cheap as at the airbase) bead polish the wheels back to whatever they are made of (hopfully shiney) then either clear coat or respray to match bike.

Also it has LED's mounted on the rear subframe to illuminate the swingarm, hugger can and of course the ground. (not included in the cost)

http://www.streetfighterstore.com

been there already before, nice stuff, i'll probably end up going to the wreckers for old MX bars and the like, I can make the risers myself tho they wont be looking to pretty...

There is a guy in auckland setting up a similar online shop for NZ but i dont have a link atm as im not at home. He said he could hook me up with a few cheap deals, he's doing a GS1200 so we're kinda at opposite ends of the scale.

Im just really looking forward to getting this little beastie out on the road

oh and another point... i've sent the pics to 5 or so girls and they are all drooling and begging to go pillion :2thumbsup

It doesn't look like it'd need much to go streetfightered. Bars, mantis style surround (could still use your current headlights), and a belly pan. Then you're set.

Remember the WT mantra, "Streetfighters aren't meant to look pretty, they're meant to look mean".*

*Disclaimer: That quote may not be exact but the overall jist has been put forward by the afforementioned StyleKing on numerous different threads concerning streetfighters.

Where are you going to get the brake disk from?

I've got a mate that needs 2 replacement disks for the front of his ZXR but the cheapest he could find was $400 (don't know how hard he looked though).

Taken the side fairings off, looks pretty damn awesome. Thanks to Bounty's generosity, I'm getting a CBR400RR can off him (thanks man :niceone: ). I'll de-baffle that and spray paint it black, and of course, add a flamethrower :devil2:. Gareth_d informed me about an L.E.D stockist (www.iceobarimports.co.nz), and I plan to get some lights to light up the engine, also get some El Wire and shape that into a pinstripe flame. Also, since A header set from Buckets and Bits is $150, I'll make my own at metal work! I was planning to cut it up (attached image will show where I planned to cut it), but $150 is too much for something I'm going to destroy. This will be an alternative to the flamethrower pipe, and the 4 pipes, since they will only be attached to the engine, they should shake and that would look awesome. I was also thinking of making a belly pan at metalwork, but that probebly requires more skill than I have.

I'm looking for other ideas that won't break the bank. Any Ideas? Let me know.

BTW, not trying to show off, or be a homie with all these modifications. All I want to do is have a go at it. I'll revert back to stock when I go out racing at manfeild this winter
