Yay! I got myself a Suzuki FXR150 to start out on. I'm hooked, I absolutely love it!!
My bf gave me my first lesson on Sunday, which was great (thanks babe!!), and I picked it up surprisingly quickly.
After a while we took it down to the park to get a bit more space... And I binned it :argh:
Clever me, I locked up the front wheel, hit the kerb and supermanned onto the grass on the other side. The front fairing is cracked in several places and has a piece missing, and the front guard has big cracks in it. My poor baby, it didn't even last a whole day!!! :crybaby:
On the plus side, the damage is superficial and won't cost too much to repair, the lights didn't get broken, the frame and tyres are sweet, and I didn't get hurt.
Took it for a short ride today (minus half the fairings lol), it's still awesome!!

Well at least you picked a good place to bin it rather than out in the traffic. Fairings are the first things to get damaged just patch em up and replace later (it may happen again) well done for picking a good learner bike. Glad you didn't hurt yourself, practise practise practise.

Do you want to share how you locked the front? (I may as well learn from your mistakes)

Well, glad to hear you are okay and it hasn't dented your confidence! Nothing like learning a little bit about what makes a bike work and stay upright! :sweatdrop

Anyhow, there should be some good peeps out your way that can give you some excellent advice and maybe even mentor you a bit!

Oh, and congrats on your new ride! Need some piccies!

Welcome to the motorcycle drug....you know you're hooked now don't you??! :)
Sorry to hear of your wee binnage, but as MVNut said at least you were smart enough to find your boundaries in a safe place. And hey it is repairable.
Good luck with the learning curve :)

Well done love!!!

You're on a bike before me... That;s the problem with buying a write off I guess :/

Hope all goes well for you! Just a note, if you don't want to have to pay out for fairings and stuff each time you bail, perhaps remove the fairings for a few months while you settle into the bike. My dad shakes his head at this idea but looking weird without fairings would look better than a letter in the mail saying "Bankrupt".

Are they 2 strokes btw? Quite a bit of power for a learner

Piccies I can do! My man took these on my first go outside my house, before I binned it obviously :P Now it's missing the section where the lights go...

No, it's a 4 stroke. Really cool wee bikes, even my weak arse can lift it! I'm 5'3" and it fits me good :D
I was a little worried about getting on it today, but it was fine :) Just remembered what my man said and I was off!

Aah! That must've been scary! When I binned the first time, I was afraid that I might be afraid to get on the bike lol

But you are still saying awesome? Nice! A girl is tougher than me! :o
Have fun! :D

Btw FXR? Nice choice :niceone:

Congratulations on purchasing your first bike. I hear you when you say you "absolutely love it!!" I'm the same i got my first bike a rvg150 about a month ago now and if I'm not in the garage just gazing at her, I'm thinking on short rides (i.e) around the block, for 5 minutes down the road, I can do.

I do'nt think many days go by I'm not smiling about it
Happy Riding

Congrats.

However, it's neither a hooker nor a nigger, so why'd you name it 'Mandi'?

Yay for you for getting back on so quick after binning! Shame about the fairings but good to get the learning curves out of the way... still waiting on my first superman experience but fingers crossed its as painless as yours!

Happy riding :)

Hehe yeah I think I got off lightly *phew*
Fairings are off being welded, my bf has very kindly suggested that we sand them, prime them and spray them gloss black. Will look very cool, and hide the repairs hehe. And if it looks crap, I can get mates rates on a pro job :D
I'm the same Tate! I can't take it anywhere yet cos it has no lights (in the front fairing) or indicators  so I have 200m to practice on. Getting boring!!! I can't wait till I can take it down the road to the park by myself :):):)
