Well.
There is a documentary screening on Thursday the 17th on TV3. Inside New Zealand : The Life of Brian. (Brian Tamaki).
Fu*king brilliant title! Who ever thought that one up deserves a knighthood!
The similarities between Monty Python and BT are superb. A case of mistaken identity on both counts...
I think a good laugh at this knobend is in order. Must go and set the video.

All for the so called legit religions passing the plate around mid service,as it is your choice to donate. This fucktard is a money making genius(wanker)whatever your choice, but ya gotta wonder his desciples bestowing gifts for him.
He really got it good when he captured Mark (bull)Allen to his ranks, gave a bit of respect to his cause having an ex all black. The only thing most agree with him was the anti-smacking protest.

Was going to watch it but Tamiki is of no interest to me. If those s who follow him want to give up their hard earned cash and substatute their own brain for his that's their loss on both counts. My own thoughts on the man is that of a peacock minus it's tail; something is missing but the 'peacock' has not noticed becasue he is unable to look back due to restrictions of vanity.

Mmmm.....not necessarily. Many religions expect tithing from members (usually one tenth of income = tithe) so that they can build temples, support teachers etc. Think of it as being like a voluntary tax. The idea is ancient and predates tax systems - it worked when whole communities belonged to a particular religion.
I'm deeply suspicious of Tamati and other charismatic religious leaders who hold out their hands for money. Remember the Moonies?

However, on the flip side, if all that has come from his own business ventures then good on him, I'm not going to get jealous of someone who can make a buck. If that cash has entered his wallet under the guise of doing 'gods' work then he's a cock.

Tithing is a relative new phenomenon in the Christian Church. Jesus himself never required his disciple to tithe.
Tithing is a practice that is rooted deep in the Jewish faith. The first mention of tithing is in Gen 14:20 and has to do with the ‘Goods of War.’ Paul in Epistle to the Hebrews Heb 7:1-10 speaking of the same event, war booty is tithed but it is only the sons of Levi who are authorized to take tithes from the people and no mention of what the tithe consisted was. In the same passage Paul in Heb. 7:6 asserts that those not of the tribe of Levi have the right to ‘receive’ tithes. Paul on his own with no instruction from God or the Christ authorizes the ‘right’ of non Levi’s to receive tithes.
Tithing is nothing but a rort perpetrated by those abusing their spiritual authority to the less fortunate than themselves. It has found increasing favour amongst the American Evangelical Churches and those Christians whose espouse that the Bible is the ‘literal’ Word of God.

I had a young fulla working for me years ago in Rotorua. He turned to Lake City Church (before it became Destiny) They started out in a disused bakery I think? but moved into the Odeon Theatre and totally revamp it. They had some American Evangelists there once, the ones that blow up hot water bottles and rip telephone books in half etc. Turned out to be a big money raising benefit for Pastor and Pastry Tamaki, they needed a holiday in Hawaii. The money bags were past around and collected, but get this, they were past around again after about 1/2 an hour because they didnt have enough. The struggling suckers that had already given, were asked to give again and the motivation was... '' Give again people, who here wants Pastor Brain to have good holiday in Hawaii''??.....or words to that effect. This from someone who was there at the time.

These people operate on the premise that a fool and his money are soon parted, that there is a fool born every minute, and there'll always be another along shortly.
Exposing them for what they are does no good cos the fools will never be convinced of their own stupidity and will continue to give their (hard?)earned to people like Tamaki.
Have and will IRD investigate him for tax fraud?

Can't help but agree with your last paragraph. The bible is an interpretation and when people saw a few weird things go down (parting of the red sea etc etc) they put it all down to god because it was the only way they could come to grips with it all.

So, he is a shopkeeper? I used to get wound up about this stuff but now I dont. Its like all the sorts of deviancy that are out there that I dont practise: as long as they dont do it in the streets and frighten the horses, and as long as its consenting adults, then as far as I am concerned they can do what they want.
I would be pissed off if they tried to impose their rather odd world view on mine, but as long as my telly has an "off" button that seems unlikely.
I don't care for Mr Tamaki personally, however. Even though he is a fellow bicyclist of the motoring pursuasion.

Yeah, true enough, I've said I don't mind him having millions if the cash came from his business dealings. I just get annoyed at people who prey on those who are.......hmmm, less inclined to 'go their own way'.

The way different churches divide the collections :
Catholic church:
Priest goes: 1 for me, one for God....one for me, one for god
Jewish:
Rabbi draws a 1 meter circle on the ground, throws all the money in the air, what lands inside the circle is Gods, what lands outside goes to the Rabbi...
Brian Tamaki:
Throws the whole lot into the air, and yells out loud:

Be careful with those thoughts mate, you could be the next person that gets ripped off by one of his converts! I once employed a woman she used to be a serious drug addict but became born again when she found Jesus and welcomed him into her life. All good so far, she was "saved".
Her only purpose in life now is to evict Satan from her life and anyone else she comes into contact with. Her questions to me and others were based around our beliefs, when she discovered we did not share her exact same doctrine, she changed. She became surley and uncommunicative and started not doing her job as well as she had been, cut everycorner she could.
I am a decent sort of a person really, and rented her one of my houses at a very reduced rate, allowed her 2 dogs there, all sorts of things to give her a hand up. She came to me one day and said she was leaving, ok says me. I had a new baby at the timeand was up to my eyeballs in new motherhood when this woman came to give me back the keys to the hosue. Yes it was all clean, yes everything was fine. I gave her a cash cheque for the bond (yeah I know a dumb thing to do, but she was a decent christian woman eh, not the sort to do the dirty?) without checking the house. She said she was not sure of the exact house number she was going to be staying at, but she would ring me with it later in the day. All good.
Feed baby, bundle in car and go out to the house. Absolute disaster, you have no idea what a shitty (literally I am talking about too BTW) filty mess, her dogs had chewed the bottom corners off the frenchdoors, carpets ruined unbelievable. Needless to say she never rang me with a forwarding addy, her cell phone no longer connected to the network.
I went to her Pastor to find out where she had gone and to let him know what had happened. While he did not actually say the words to me, I came away knowing that because I did not follow that doctrine I was Satan in disguise, anything they could do to hurt/harm/cost Satan was acceptable! I am being serious here, and have spoken over the years to others that have been done by these types of people. They are not OK, they are subversive and in my opinion actually dangerous.
Destiny is a larger form of the church that this woman belonged to.

Now see that is an interesting slant on the theme. I have heard that one used too! A company I worked for had a noticable decline in sales over couple of months. It was concerning, but no reason could be found until...
A rep tendered his resignation...
You've got it, he was starting a new job with an opposition firm. He took so much business from this company it was not funny. When confronted, he got down on his knees and prayed, he did not respond, he prayed! When he had finished he got up and admitted more than we had discovered, told us the devil made him do it, and that all was sweeet as now as he had prayed for forgiveness and received it!
I best drop this thread actually....LOL

I think choppers look awesome......but that's it! Might be alright on American Freeways and SH1 here (most of the way) but if you want to go further than the nearest Latte and experience some of the great roads that godzone has to offer, I'm afraid a chopper isn't the way to go. IMHO, chopper riders are just showboaters or big noters and not true bikers.
I welcome the oportunity to be proved wrong but! If Bri' or any of his Chopper Riding bud's are reading this.....I'd love to see them at the next GC, or 4points, or C1KC, or SC or.....the list goes on.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen/passed a chopper on the road here, at least not outside a town road!!
I'd never own one for all the reasons you posted (I'd consider a bobber perhaps) but I still don't see riding a chopper as being "poor form". I could name a few people with choppers who own other, more agile bikes as well and they are most assuredly 'true' bikers. IMHO I would imagine that anyone who labels chopper riders as 'showboaters and big noters' is simply jealous of their bling trappings. Some of the choppers I have come across are triple-figure machines, works of art and a credit to their owners; owners who don't give a rats arse that chops don't go round corners, their other machines can do that for them.
If I had some spare thousands, had other bikes to choose from and enough garage space to house a chop then if I buy/build one does that make ME a 'showboater' and a 'big noter'?
Is riding a Honda ST1300 "poor form", for example?
To each his own.
Cheers.
