Hi all,
I have a 2004 production 1200gs that has a problem in that the brake failure lights stay on or comes on down the road after carrying out the normal start up procedure where the lights would normally go out after 2 to 3 metres of forward movement.
The problem has been there for roughly the last 20,000 Km.
There are no problems with the operation of the brakes.
BMW computer test gear indicates a "Fault with the brake system"
There are no signs of any fluid leakage from either the primary or secondary front or rear brake circuits.
The fluid levels in both primary circuit and secondary circuit resevoirs are all within limits.
The floats in the secondary circuit are not binding on their posts and are not holed.
The wiring loom has been checked with the use of the BMW computer test gear and shows "No faults"
The fault is not related to the front brake lever fouling the hand gaurd or an obstruction stopping the rear brake lever releasing the micro switch.
The correct signal is shown on the dash when the ABS system is switched off.
Has anyone out there had this problem or got any ideas for me to check?? out.
