Now thats a tricky question..... yeah I'd vote March Hair out of the bigger rallies, only cos the other biggie is the Brass and thats to bloody much like hard work.
However........... the other catogory I put rallys in is small rallys which I prefure because theres no ninken pops there that just go for the hell of it or in cars and jump the fence.
With the smaller rallys you can get around the site a few times and have a good catch up with those ya know and dont know, and I find these rallys more family orentated
So I would vote the Magpie Madness or the Wounder rally which isent on anymore, how ever the Glenorchy is a awesome rally because its just the best ride ever................ umm in my view they are all the 'best' for ther own reasons.
Since starting with my 1st rally at 17yrs I have covered 60 odd rallies including Oz.... still injoy them hugely.

I would tend to fallow dangous in this, While the big rallys are an experience the smaller ones are best. For a start, you dont have to spend several hours in the darkness searching for your tent because so many more tents have sprung up since you last took note of where your is.
Vincent County is a good smallish rally, The Magpie another but one of my favourites is the Berlins Rally in the lower Buller Gorge.
Why you ask, because its a damn good ride just getting there.
I could go on, because as you sit and think about it, most rallys seem to have one or more great features about them. Well, thats my limited experiences anyway, only 65+ rally badges and lordy knows how many that badges have been lost from or were not handed out from

YEAH BABY !!!!!!!!!!
well the waikato rally is the ONLY rally we have ever been on, but it had the following points that other future rallies will have to at least equal to be considered great!
1: It has to be accepting of all kinds of bikes and people
2: It has to be family friendly, not sleezy
3: It has to have awesome support people ( cheers Dave)
4: It has to have fantastic roads
the weather being good is a bonus, but quite frankly the ride was magic despite the weather being shite.

What makes a good rally is good people, and enjoying being there with them. I met some awesome folk at the brass and would like to catch up again this year if I am not off to Oz for a holiday with the family then. But the Cold Kiwi has to be one for me great family time to be had with the displays and events. I'll have to try the cold duck to get some objectivity on the matter.

Well i've only done the sulphur city rally once and the cold kiwi 3x. Although i have yet to experience any of the others the cold kiwi gets the :2thumbsup from me. This year was especially great as it didn't piss down with rain and IT SNOWED :Punk: For a born and bred northlander from the tropical bay of islands waking up to white stuff falling out of the sky on saturday morning was magic. What i enjoy most of all is the atmosphere, it's diehard bikers without wanky attitudes (that i noticed at the summer rally). Any newbies on here i recommend the cold kiwi experience! :apint:
