Put a DJK into my NZ new 93 WP was good for about 3 months till needles wore out then was back to where I had started . Ended up buying genuine needles for it and never looked back .

Your Jap import GSXR1100 will be restricted in some way. Your best bet is to find out how it is restricted and derestrict it back to the stock set-up.

One useful step in doing this is to get hold of a parts diagram of the carbs for your model and determine the stock unrestricted jetting (pilot jet, needle, needle jet, main jet). The sizes/designations are usually given in the parts list and they are stamped on the jets/needles themselves. Compare these with the pilot, needle and main from your bike. If your bike is restricted your main will certainly be smaller (leaner) and you may also have a leaner needle and pilot jet as well. Also, check that the slides in the carbs have full movement (all the way out of the throat at full throttle). Some bikes are restricted by limiting the slide movement.

You can't derestrict by just changing the jetting. You have to remove the restriction to the breathing as well. This is likely to be in the airbox/airfilter/carb inlet tract and/or the exhaust.

In addition, some restricted bikes have ignition timing changes and/or cut-outs as well as restrictions to breathing.

Early dynojet kits had problems with the needles wearing prematurely. I was advised the newer kits had titanium needles.
I've been running a stage 3 kit for 3 years and its still ok (have checked needles , no wear to be seen !)
I found the settings in the instructions were pretty close when running twin K&N pods. Gaz.
