my boy took his bike (vtr250) into a bike shop for a wof today and left it for a couple of hours , they contacted him that it was finished so he picks it up and texts me that they gave it a service instead of a wof. what would you do, pay or tell them to stick it.

I went in and paid but arranged for them to do the wof tomorrow for free.

Ask for a discount off the service price, plus the free WOF.

Did it need a service? Does it go better now?

I would look at them and ask "wheres the WOF" ? When they said they had serviced it, I would would blink and not say anything except ask "well, when shall I bring it back for the WOF?"

Don't you always end up eating your own mistakes ? It bloody feels like I do. Shrug.

It would be good to know where you got this done. I wouldn't want this sort of trouble with my bike. They're paid to do their job properly, and if they don't do their job, then they don't get paid.

Ride off and don't go back. :girlfight:

If I order fish and chips and they give me Crayfish and Paua's, I will give it back and say sorry but that's not what I ordered.....

So it depends on your generosity realy.....You pay for what you ask for...and even then it needs to be up to specs of course.

Was a service necesary? Or was your sons bike still up to specs?
Other option would be to think of paying for the parts of service only...?

User pays, and when I stuff up, it always costs me.....

But there is also live and let live of course.....

Personally I would've only paid for the parts supplied and not the labour.
Have a chat to the workshop foreman and if that doesn't work talk to the owner.
I'd be surprised if they didn't credit you back.

they showed me the booking and it said service but my boy asked for a wof so it would come down to he said this bla bla

Well at least it's serviced now and you're getting a wof at no charge so that's makes the service even better value.

i would have thought that they would have picked up that the wof was expired doing the service, but its all good

Sounds like an honest mistake... as long as you and the shop can come to some middle ground agreement that keeps you both happy and you can walk away feeling like you have been treated well then all is good. I wouldnt avoid a place just cos of one mistake - so long as they did their part to remedy it and kept me feeling like a valued customer

As far as I am aware you are not legally obliged to pay for any work that you didn't ask for. Although you may have a "he said, she said" situation on your hands.
