View Full Version : AMPS stock

I spent some time in the showroom at AMPS yesterday. Man they have some nice stock on the floor at the moment.
It's winter slow down time. Heaps of mint motorcycles and I suspect some reasonably sharp pencils.
Triumph stock is the best I've seen it and there are 4 bikes that I could easily ride away with.
2 Speed Triples, Scrambler and Thruxton.
Then a dribble on the KTMs.
I borrowed the 690 Enduro and have been carving up around town on that.
Very interesting to compare to the BMW Cross country I had a while ago.
KTM is faster. Bimmer probably handled slightly better - but then i haven't messed with the set up.
The rest of the KTM range must have them smiling too. There are some well tasty bikes. The 690 is a demo. Wicked trail bike.
Had a quick look at the Hogs - new Rockers on the floor. Had a stiffy when I saw the pics, but in the flesh it's only the same size as a Deuce which doesn't work for BD.
Couple of nice Heritages took my eye and the Buell XB12XT. The Road going Ulysses for normal height guys.
Well worth a dribble and a tyre kick.

Although i was just tyre kicking, I sat on Ham m/cycles cross country,(nice and light, but 19" front might put me off, the new F650-800cc feels very heavy in comparison).
Still waiting for a chance to ride the 690 Enduro, Boyds havn't got a demo.:crybaby:

The only problem is it's AMPS.
:girlfight:Yeah, sorry. I'll never stop moaning about the bike sales guys ignoring me every single time i've gone in (without fail). Now if they can get the accessories guys to sell the bikes instead i'm sure their sales woudl go through the roof.

'Excuse me - I'd like some assistance' works BRILLIANTLY.
I have been friends with the sales team there since it was Shaft MC. It's had one change in 7 years.
Stable, pleasant, good blokes.

Well i wasn't about to go comparing the steering/weight of the RC8 to the GSX1400... thats fore shore Au!!
did you manage to keep out from underneath the wheels?
I did indeed, my doctor categorically told me not to get run over again... besides it hurts the body and wallet! I did however happen to bump the car yesterday and then bump into toast!

True; never a good idea to compare a bike to something you haven't ridden.

The 1400?? yeah mate.. was faster than teh gxr1000 k7, the rc8 and and ripped my arms out going from 0-100. The steering was much more responsive on the 1400 than anything else i've EVER ridden (remembering i havent ridden many bikes  ) and i don't know where they hid all the weight.. the 1400 feels lighter than my sons bmx !!!!!

'bout right.
Sorry to hear about your arms though bro. Occupational hazard of riding a GSX1400. Did the doctors stitch them back on OK?

That sounds a bit odd. You might want to try riding an MV Agusta F4-1000S; I hear they steer with the power of thought.

None of them steer as well as the BMW Megamoto. Best on a (only just) production bike.

They're not slow either. I had to WOT the 1400 in 4th gear to keep up with the Enduro version going up the Bombays on SH1 a couple months ago.

Best EFI I've encountered on a bike too.
