Covered this in previous "look nice bike rediculous res" threads before but will say it again.
People are morons. And some sellers realise this. Silly res means people bit up thinking (even when it has reach reasonable market value) they've scored a bargin.
Obviously the smart thing to do would be to wait until the auction is nearly finished and then bid, rather than getting into bidding wars. But again people are stupid (generalisation), and so are unable to grasp concepts like that.
Just for a laugh had a look at the dvd writers available on trade me. And the number of them that were selling for more than they cost retail was over 80%. Why? Because people can't be bothered researching for them selves. Having been in the sales game these manipulations are well known and widely used.
OT - Just remember this same stupid majority that can't even work out the basics of getting a good deal, are also voters, hense my problem with democracy. (and they do vote across the board, stupidity can be found on the left, right and centre).

Having just looked at it and I bet the top bidder atm (looking4one) is the guy selling it trying to up the price. Very easy to setup a fake account. Bet in the end it won't go for any less than he would normally take.

Hi folks,
I am the winner of that auction.
Its not stolen etc. No money owing. Its in perfect condition. check out the thread I started on it.
Interesting about the comments - Its on its way down to me now, it should be here tomorrow. Have been on the phone to the owner all week, and the bike has been totally checked. Its mint.
Check out the pics of it if you like, taken by the owner I just got it from. www.taktik.co.nz/bike/
