Hey anyone know anything about/ had experience with bike mounting a Beltronic Sti Radar Detector, want to put my one on my '08 250R Ninja, Any thoughts? Learner rider, not sure how I feel about open road riding at the laws prescribed speed. Have noticed girls on bikes get undue attention from the law.....<_<

Hi Victoria
Try these people: http://www.ramsolutions.co.nz/ for a mount. Not sure whether a stem or handlebar mount is best for your application. Have attached a pic of my bar mount for reference. The mount for an STI will be similar, with the detector held on with velcro or Dual lock. I have a waterproof cover on mine.

Wow, the radar's are pretty cool. Problem is... if you're speeding you wouldn't be able to hear the radar detector detecting!

Hi Victoria,
Blackbirds is a great set up.. But I have seen these on Trademe as well. May be a bit cheaper ($69 I think?) then the above setup? They just fit to the ring around your gas cap on your tank. Comes with all the hardware you need.
Good luck and welcome to the Kiwi Bike site.

Course you can - you have an earpiece, H.A.R.D or screamer attached

Victoria miss, as a learner you should be thinking about your braking and steering, and your position on the road. I do not think you will have the time to tu-tu with a radar detector, mp3 player, gps map thingy, or any sort of distracting electronic gadget. Us boys hate splattered "girl" on the road :crybaby: its really horrible, so you be cool pls.
grumble.. give it month perhaps, then load up the toys..

DB you are quite right:sunny:, I'm not putting one on till the engine's run in, and there are more than enuf other things for me to think about at this early stage!, but when I'm competant I suspect I may get in demerit point danger....so the Beltronic might even up my odds a little!:2guns::Police:

just trying to avoid getting demerits for riding over 70kmsThey wont ticket you for that. Go down to the fuzz shop and ask them. You will see. "no ma'am, that has never been enforced."
Just hum along and do your thang safely and they will leave you alone.

I have to agree with most here, learn to ride properly and get used to your bike before you worry about putting crap all over your bike that will only distract you, for now anyway
There are far more hazards out there that need your undivided attention

My wifes done nearly 10,000ks on her ninja now they are an awesome little bike. She did about 70 kms an hour for quite a while before going any faster.
We had a smaller front sprocket fitted to reduce the revs for highway riding. Worked a treat, less revs and longer legs

Did you do that before it was run in?, does it matter? lower revs sound good, I've looked for another gear a couple of times and found there wasn't one.

Yep, half revs and half throttle is the rule - must be pretty difficult in your hilly area. After that you can sorta go for it mostly, but not full-throttle for more than a minute, and keep the revs mid-range.
hee hee, have fun!
