what a neat little thing this is. Here I am at my sister inlaws playing with my girls iPod using the next door nabours wireless. It is amazing the shit you can do on this thing. I'm not really in to gizzmos and gadgets but this little contraption is the best $700 I have ever spent. Now that's not what grinds my gears new Zealand. Thanks for taking the time to read this rant.

Another cool thing I'm cranking a bit of g'n'r and surfing the net at the same time. Almost like where have you been man

I downloaded an application that allows me to use the ipod as a remote controller for itunes on my computer
After I marveled at how nifty that was, I realized it was exactly what I need - another fucking remote control.
Particularly if you travel - its a fabulous mobile entertainment system - and toy.
It's evolving into a useful business tool if you need to keep shitloads of data in your pocket. Like the medical and pharmacy data in the new web apps.
For most of us - On a scale of important things it's not. On the harmless pleasures scale it rates highly.

You can also download the iPhone 2 software update for the iPod Touch from within iTunes (costs $13.99, I think) and then you have access to all the applications in the iTunes AppStore; a good proportion of which are free.
The software update also gives you:
Scientific calculator (rotate to landscape to see it)
Improved typing response
Ability to push sync with MS Exchange servers via ActiveSync
Available applications include such useful ones as the iBeer (virtual beer) and the iSabre, that makes lightsaber noises as you wave it around. Plus some cool racing games you can steer by tilting the iPhone from side to side.

Better on the iPhone because of the built-in speaker, but the sounds do come through the headphones on an iPod Touch.

we all have little things that we spend money on that could be spent better on kids in Africa.
You spend $30 on a tank of gas for a afternoon out going for a ride - that could feed a kid for a month according to the TV and the fundraisers who call each dinner time.
Its a bit of a sad argument.

Slap me if you will. Fuck the kids in africa. This country has enough problems as it is and we are all paying to fix them. When all of our probs are solved then i might think about them(africa). Actually I just had an Idea.

you need 3g coverage to use the video call feature, if 2g coverage is all thats available then you cant video call (i think?)
to do with itouch/phone, if it only has 3g, then it cant work with only 2g coverage...
my assumptions anyway

The iPhone, like most other phones, happily degrades back to 2G performance if it cannot find a 3G-capable transmitter. But you can't do video-calling on the iPhone anyway ...

Being pedantic, you'll find it has the option of hopping between UMTS (3G), GPRS (2 1/2G) and GSM (2G). Data can be used on both UMTS and GPRS, and voice can be used on all 3. Video and high speed apps will only work properly on 3G.

I'm esp interested in using it as a Media Remote (inconjunction with my Mac Mini) using Remote Buddy (http://www.iospirit.com/). Very sexy. Like the idea of the wifi internet browsing and big LCD screen. Will likely convert my movies/TV shows that I watch into H.264 format...

While I can't really justify the cost of the 8GB (in simple terms), I really can't justify the extra $130 (?) for the extra 8GB (for the 16GB). Hope the iPhone apps aren't huge, and I only have about 2GB of music on my MP3 player at the moment if I'm really discerning.

I have the 8gb iPhone - the iPod features are fantastic - the phone and the itouch piss over the other iPods BUT only having 8 or 32 gb is a real pain. I have just over 100gb of music and having to change what music I have on at any one time is annoying - and you never have THAT specific sing you are looking for. As soon as there I'd a 128Gb iPhone I'm off to upgrade.
Re the windows devices, palms and blackberrys - I've used them all and I still think that the iPhone I'd better than all of them. I was never a mac fan boi but after the phone and the iMac I'm converted.

I only have 14gb of music and vids in total.
I just manage my playlists and have 3gp on the ipod at any time.
I use the tube TV application to keep about 3gb of video current.

Not much. Have had to set a few up and wasn't that impressed. If it keeps you happy I've got a Neuros running embedded linux that I sometimes hack.
Shareprice? Marketing wins over good R&D I guess. Maybe that's why Atari is gone and Nintendo are still around?

Thats what they said about pxting on an iphone, but i've just installed an app on mine and am now happily pxting away no worries at all (finally my phone is complete!). No, got to get me a itrip next, can tune the radio at work to it and leave the phone in my pocket while playing music and be able to skip any crap tracks wherever i am in the workshop.
Bet there will be an app available for the 3g iphones shortly for video pxting. You can get an app for taking vids, its been around for a while now for the iphone, not something i really need though.

Yes - you can get apps that allow PXTs (or MMS as the rest of the world calls them) on the iPhone. But for video calling, you don't need just software, you need a camera on the screen side of the phone so the person you're calling can see you whilst you watch them. The iPhone's camera is on the reverse side. No third party application is going to fix that.

I'm old school even with modern technology.I got one of those generic 1gb Mp3 players 3 years ago when the prices dropped - and it has been great,I change the playlist every couple of months. But I kinda wanted all my music on there...
Then Mp3 players took some quantum leap - now they were all 60,80 or 120Gb,they played videos, you could masturbated in the toilet with one. What happened to the 20 or 30Gb music only ones?
Then I found a Creative Zen 20Gb on disposal sale at Smith the Dick, old stock (2005),damaged packaging for $99.Done deal.So it's Sooooo old school at 3 years old and only 20Gb and doesn't play movies, but it holds a shit load of music and doesn't look trendy. It'll do me for now until the next latest thing is on disposal sale.

is vtec classed as some type of turbo?
if so can you put a BOV in a vtec honda and it will work?
from what i understand you cant have a blow off valve unless you have a turbo, cos if u dont have turbo with a BOV then it doesnt work? or doesnt make the cool sound? so if u chuk a BOV on a vtec will it work and will it make the sound?
