Hey everyone,
Young JamyzW and I went for a ride across the bridge this afternoon, me on scoot, James on his new CBR250.
Coming back across the bridge, a good amount of oil ended up on the exhaust with the resultant cloud of smoke. It's leaking a good amount, possibly a couple of tablespoons worth.
I'm going across later this week to help him pull it apart - the bike is running too well for it to be pressurising because of stuffed rings (no smoke either) - has anyone had this problem before?

Too much engine oil ? could make the excess oil go into the airbox then out the exhaust... was gonna say rings/gasket may be old and needs replacing. How many k's has the bike done?

A couple of tablespoons !? You worry about tablespoons? Sheesh, clearly you never owned a Triumph.

Probably millions of k's... But, no smoke, starts fine, runs very well, doesn't run or sound like a ring failure. This is physically leaking from the back of the engine, or a cover, not out the exhaust.

No, I've never had the pleasure of a Triumph. Although I've owned (and currently own) Alfa's, which are much the same, but with slightly more redeeming qualities (they're always beautiful).
Oil quantity was dripping heavily, not gushing.

Oh ok so its leaking onto the header pipes....might be leaking from the oil filter but best to take the fairings off and trace where the leak is coming from...

The ol CBR has only done 37000 kms which i spose isnt too bad. Attatched is a pic(providing it worked) with a red arrow pointing to the area where the oil appears to be coming from. I cleaned the bike before the ride and with about 20kms left the oil had spread down the back of the bike and onto the rear tyre lol. Any help or ideas would be good!
