So, it starts with sun coming through the window (OMG its not raining). Get up and say to Steve (QKKID) lets go for a gravel run up to Puhoi. 'Neck is still sore' - he's had a bad neck for the last couple of days. 'Dont feel like it'. Ok, maybe after breakfast he will feel better.......
After Breakfast, Mr Grumpy wasnt in any better shape so I jumped on KB and put the thread up explaining the situation. Didnt expect much, most of the smart ones would be already out on the road going north, south generally in the direction of a pub. (bikers are a bunch of pissheads aint we?) Devil found the lure irresitable (or watching paint dry had worn off), the chance of jumping on someone elses bike. Sorry mate, as soon as Steve found out you were keen, the neck didnt feel as bad after all. <_<
So we meet up and headed off towards Wainui. I had played with my Mapsource @ home earlier and had plotted a general course. I had 2 aims for todays ride. Get out there on the gravel and improve (which I did including the full lock side-drift while going down a left hand blind corner/hill - I see why the Motards love what they do.. :shifty: even if I did shit myself for a second or two as it WAS unintentional) and get some pics of the new viaduct they have built leading up to Johnsons Hill, which inturn goes into the twin tunnels for the new Northern Motorway. So after waiting up for Devil (with balls of steel  - poor bugger still has his OEM tyres on his new KTM, so riding full street tyres on gravel! :gob:) at each intersection, I was hoping I had put us on the right path. As you can see, I dont get lost like Qkkid (even tho I a GPS, at least I can program it with the correct roads! :p) and we found the glory it is!
1. Mucking around, looking around
2. Shit there's alot of concrete!
3. Devils Austrian design in front of another Austrian design (or German or Swedish, arrr come on it was funny at the time)
4. Goes for miles...
For some interesting facts on the new motorway have a looksie here. (http://www.transit.govt.nz/projects/view_project.jsp?content_type=project&=edit&primary_key=37&action=edit)
Loading more pics up on next page, beir/beer/bear with me.....
