View Full Version : Bike Trader rewrite

I've started re writing the Bike Trader. If you have any suggestions, post'em here.
The new trader will have three categories:
Bikes
Parts & Accessories
Gear
Every new thread in Online Trading will become an ad in the trader.
Bike shops will be able to place ads, but the threads will be created in the Shop forum.
If you are viewing an ad thread, the latest ads from the same category will appear at the top, the same as they currently do in the Online Trading forum.
Also looking to improve the trader search.

Could sell 1 spot of the 5 displayed. Different rate for individuals from shops. If there isn't anyone paying for that spot it goes back in the pool.

Bike stuff only.
Including Vans, Utes or trailers? These are often sold as racing accessories. Not tying to be a smart arse this time.

Favourite categories - like, emailed new listings? Because there's been a few times when I've missed out on some really good stuff!

Currently ads are deleted after one year, but the user has the option to delete them themselves.

Yer but some don't and its not "that" obvious how too. I've just sold my bike so I know how to do it now but I had to search to figure out how. Maybe I'm just not up with the play enough though :D

I'd suggest one exception to the "other" vehicles should be specificly race vans, utes and bike trailers. only becuase its stuff directly bike related

First part of the update is installed.
Things left to do:
Add search options for the new categories. For now the forums site search will find what your looking for since all ads are posts in the forums.
Give bike shops the option to post in the trader.
Any problems post them here.
You can add existing threads to the trader by simply editing your post.

There doesn't seem to be a link to the replies posted to an ad, like the old trader pages had.
Liking the layout Spank! ;)
