Hi all

Are these guys ok?

Considering investing in a trip down to check out some of their bikes and don't want to waste my time/money if they are sharp bastards.

Cheers

I would suggest you ring Dave Beasant as he is in charge of bike sales there on 0800 848 6337 . My experience is they aren't to flexible on cutting bike prices even for cash. Occasionally they do have some very good sell out specials. Check there web site see if there is anything there that interests you and give Dave a ring as it may save you time and money.

Daves away untill next month, but didn't stop me having a 30 min phone convo with one of the mechanics who was manning the phones ! Top bloke i recon, if the sales guys are as friendly and helpfull as him i'd have no problem dealing with them !

You thinking of flying down or doing an overland trip ?

Thanks yes I will prolly give him a call.

Discount for cash on expensive durables such as cars/bikes etc does not generate a lot of interest as they make lotsa commission on HP deals I think.

Have seen a handful of bikes (on the interweb) that I'm interested in (and Mrs X wants a dirty weekend away) so maybe its time to pay a visit to Nelson... eh.

Funny that she is really encouraging me to buy another bike :gob: and I'm ummming and aaahhhing

Fly down eh.

Thinking that's its cheaper and more sensible to get it shipped back up North if I decide to buy.

Look we have one member whose experiences from buying a used ex rental BMW from there were not very good at all - a lot of problems with the bike that should have been sorted before it was sold and a few issues trying to get it sorted afterwards.
PM me for the contact if you want - I'm not getting into any libelous stuff here
Its the old story though - if you're buying used, especially if there are a few K's on it which maintenance history will effect - then get it checked out thoroughly and be really observant when you test it (buy with your head as well as your heart)

I reckon. She is a treat alright... after a family tragedy a couple of years ago our outlook on life is focused a bit more on live while you can cos you are a long time dead.

I 1st delt with them 25 years ago, and was very happy with their service then. Rejetted the carb on my Evo Sporty..went heaps better than it did when brand new...me was very happy!
As mentioned before, if they were dodgy, they they would not still be in business.
One bag egg in a bucket does not make the whole lot rotten...even the best get the odd lemon...such could have been the BMW mentioned.
They seam to have lasted as long or longer than most ""honest"" bike dealers around..I guess thats the proof in the pudding.

Have dealt with Thunderbike in the past. They were good to deal with and no problems.
Nice and friendly also.

Yeah they offer a deal where they will pay for your airfare if you buy and ride home OR Heated Grips (fitting extra) OR shipping

I think this is on selected bikes only tho'. At the end of the day you end up paying for it anyway and I am sure there will be a number of conditions tied to it.

If there is anyone in Motueka that has time on their hands there is a bike at BAZ Motorcycles that I would love an opinion on :D

A Ducati ST2 in Yellow (goes faster than red Im told)

So many men, so many opinions, every deal has it's own value.

I bought my current bike from Thunderbikes NZ.

The deal they arranged with me was to my satisfaction.

There was some misunderstanding by both parties on arrival to clinch the deal though.

I think that Thunderbikes upheld their end in a very professional manner.

Had it not been for their flexible attitude things could have turned to custard for me in a big way.

Personally if you are straight up with them they will be straight up with you in return.

Would I buy another bike from them? Absolutely "yes", in a heartbeat! :ride:

But that is just my experience, another KB friend of mine tells me he has another tale to tell :slap: but that is "his" story, let him tell it!

Such is life, let the buyer beware! :shifty: Cheers John.

I have been dealing with them from a POV of trying to get a deal together to buy a bike off them. It hasnt happened yet (and it may not) but I have found them very prompt, professional and friendly. Had some good chats too.

Very dodgy

Have dealt with them in the past and would never deal with them again

Excellent with a sharp pencil and sharp business practices to part you from your cash

Were interveiwed live on tv once about selling a stolen bike to a customer and refusing to come clean on it

Have a friend who lives in Nelson who will not deal with them

I could say more but this is a public forum pm me if you want any further details

FWIW

Thunderbike have been very responsive and helpful in my search for the ultimate deal.

Thanks all for your assistance.

BTW I am checking an Ducati '05 ST4s out (in red) . This is a local NZ new bike with 8K on the clock... nice to see service history for a change  who knows what the state of the jap imports is?

Mrs X must be having an affair... she even suggested that we get a shed so we CAN FIT THE TWO BIKES IN THE GARAGE

see you at the Coldkiwi

Cheers

Some of the staff bought a motorbike shop of their very own.
