Slipping, sliding, dreadlocks and soaked .....everything:pinch:…
after turning up at the track it was looking like it may stay dry. But 20 mins before my F1 qualifying the Mrs Bitch Nature decided to pee’s us off. The mad panic was on to change both Drews and my bike onto wets.
With time short, we opted to just put a wet on my front and change both of Drews to wets, as he was running slicks (dodgy, dont do it!!!) and I had Super Corsers (ahhh I’ll be sweet as…… doh NOT!):shit:.
F1 Qualifying I made it out late, it poured down, my rear was slip sliding everywhere, near lost it more it more often than not, so I did one lap (think I held my breath all the way round, but at least it stopped my visor from fogging) and then pulled in. Ahh well, if I qualified all good, but if not then at least my rear wet will be on for F2 Qualifying.
F2 Qualifying. Poured down, I had never ridden on wets before and was surprised that the bike was so steady. MINT! 25th on the grid.
FORMULA 1
To my surprise I did make qualifying for F1:gob:, 2nd to last row, but there, cool beans!. So thought I would go out and use it for practice and get used to riding through rivers on wets. Had a ball out there. Made up places and had loads of fun in race one. Finished 21st I think??
Race two I found some new passing manouvers which stuck after one of my best starts to date. Though Im sure those moves will be stolen back off me next round eh. Passed the Mini Mair up the inside of the sweeper then realised it was the “Drew” in front of me! what the????? I realised he must have some machine probs to have me catching him up :(, was near about to pass him when an unfortunate crash red flagged the race.
Re-Start had me all stuffed up, and I made a total hash of it sliding and somehow knocked into neutral as the whole field buggered off! oh well I had a wee giggle, actually a large giggle. Some how I caught up and passed a couple and settled down to just ride it out. Managed a top 20 finish amongst all that lot somehow, which was my actual aim for F2. Pretty happy. Thought I would be one HELL of a LONG way outa my league! instead it was just a LONG way out lol!
FORMULA II
races were awesome. Ive decided I like the rain. HEAVY rain :) when I still have vision that is. I got a bit braver with my passing again and managed to make up some places. Lots of slides, but not to nasty, they felt really controlable once my head let me have a little faith in the wets. Coming out of the sweeper felt super cool spining up quite a lot through to 4th cog. So after aiming for a top 20 finish I was happy as when I found out it was an 18th in Race one and 16th in Race two. Best time a 1:23.4 and no ‘ohhh shit’ moments, so loads of room to improve when my head lets me eh ;)
HIGHLIGHTS….
Keeping 99 upright in that grott weather and completing the day.
Beating my ‘top 20′ goal in F2, and making a top 20 in my first F1 meet.
Seeing Nicksta ‘BLITZING’ in Post classics!Awsome stuff Nicks. We were screaming for you and it was so neat to watch:first:
…ohh yeah, and beating Luke twice coz it’s no secret that he just loves the look of a Duc’s ass :moon: lol
LOW’S
Finding out Drew had crashed out of Race one. Was gutted for him, and the team. Don’t worry babe. We know when you keep it up you ‘KICK BUTT’ xxx:hug:
Ripping the dreadlocks out of my head at the end of the day.
Hugest thanks to all of you that make it happen. Drew for ongoing encouragement that ‘ I CAN DO IT’ when I worry I CANT! Kerry Jeffs for more than anyone could dream of :) and crazy Jo for always giggling, Rob and Cherry Taylor for ongoing support and help (blardy missed you guys). Grant and Ruth for so much more as well, Anglo American Motorcycle Club because your the coolest supporters in the world! Kevin and Karen for being there and towing bikes and bits from miles away. Dave for getting us sorted with mechanical thingy’s and got Drews bike fixed with Rob. Deano for helping put my front rim back on to get me out in time. Ed (Gixxer) for the sexy wets!(though I thought I could smell hair product on them??), VMCC organizers and marshalls for such a fantastic run event again and all you fast riders out front, you are truely inspirational.
…and ALL my supportive friends and family that make racing the shizza!
Sorry no pic’s, Im not sure if anyone was brave enough to stand out with their camara gear in that weather, if I get any I’ll post em up.
Thanks for reading my blurb.
Bring on the torrents for round 4 !!!
