Probably wrong forum but I´m sure one of the mods will stick it where it belongs.See quite a few bikers out my way and thought it would be good if we could form groups/contacts of other bikers in our areas.Would be good for assiting each other, doing group rides, helping out newbies etc. Whats your thoughts?:dodge:

If there is enough interest( i.e. numbers) will look at forming a social group.
Brett
21st July 2008, 23:00
yeah, i would be keen to get together with riders in the area. Maybe we could do things like help new riders learn their bikes? I have some good ideas on that regard. Not to interested in joining a "club" but getting to know the local clowns in the area would be good!

You can have a social group of 1, numbers don't matter.

could join/tag along with the uni SMC club... we're half east aucklanders anyway, have plenty of learner training etc and you don't need to be a student
Hi, would be interested in meeting up with other guys in the area, lets get this going!!

Need a good pub. One that doesn't get all antsy about lots of bikers descending on it (doubtless intent on smashing the place up and raping the bar maid, in too many minds).
Panmure has a few.
And then a club night.
Auckland has been sadly bereft of biker meeting places these many years, apart from Bar Africa .

Sounds good ! Once I figure out why my ride won't start :argh:
Was off work last week so didn't ride, jumped on yesterday morning and the motor turns over (and over an over....) but it just won't fire. At 6:30 in the morning I'm sure the neighbours were getting pi$$ed off.

Awesome idea, i'm keen for some locals to ride with and shoot the shit about bikes.

Ohagan's is my favourite local pub. Its on the Pakuranga Highway. Pretty easy to find.

Does Manukau somehow count as East Auckland? If so I'm dead keen! I've always wished there were a meeting place around here, especially a destination/bar to get some foodage after a good hearty ride!

I wholeheartedly support this route! Perfect length to get a ride out of your system and finish up at the pub (anyone found one yet?)

Great idea. It seems nobody was quite sure how to do it so since i come from bucks Beach (but currently Welly), I've started the East auckland riders Social Group (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/group.php?groupid=59) for you guys. You guys have some of the best rads in the whole auckland region out whitford, Hunua, Clevedon and Maraetai to name just the close ones. The whitford pub's not bad either but not too flash for having a beer and riding home from.

Need a good pub.
The Cock an Bull Botany is quite suitable. Usually three or five bikes outside at different times. Plenty parking, enuff judder bars to practise wheelies on entry etc.

Miss q's panmure but dunno what time it closes during the week...
Another option is use a garage at someones place or something *coughs* (even got a burn out pad)
As for the route, yep its one of my favourites for a short blat and its not too far away :) not only that, there are tight twisties, and you have to really nana it in some corners... great for newbies too hehehe!!!

I wouldn't mind the Cock and Bull, or Whitford Pub... whatever has the nicest chips! Kinda would prefer something like Whitford Pub, still got some nice roads to do on the way home, rather than Te Irirangi Road for 84219234 km (for me, anyway) :D

23rd July 2008, 11:07
Ye Cock and Bull sounds OK. Remember summer is coming and they have tables outside we can sit at in our leathers etc. We don't have to go to same place everytime. Headin Home might be another choice but I reckon if we are the East Group we should be meeting somewhere in Whitford, East Tam, Howick or Pakuranga.
Shit I'll have to get on with the bike refurb!

It is desireable that the pub should be central and as close to 'home' as possible.
Bear in mind though that pubs who are happy enough to have 2 or 3 bikers there sometimes take a different attitude to 20 or 30.
Need a pub with decent food , too.
'Cock and Bull' is good, as a pub.

Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility! lol
But really, I did what you may/are doing. Started a club. It is a lot of work. At times I wonder why I bother - always chasing up people, collecting phone numbers, having to bite your tongue when some knob mouths off about you starting a club/or about your club.
BUT..
Come August we have our first anniversary and are having a celebration. Going by ticket sales, there is roughly 30 people down to come and this is prepay tickets only and there is still a week left to buy them - and 90% of those people who have already bought them are members! Yes, we only started last year!
When you get going, and perhaps have people visiting down here - look us up!

Hi guys I'm often busy working strange hours and over weekends. Try to get out on the weekends I'm off. I post when I'm going so if anybody wants to come out on them they are welcome. Nothing stopping any of you others organising rides either.
Regarding getting together ,socialising, pubs etc- I'm not the most socially adept so anybody keen on that side of things is welcome to get something going.Sure others would be keen to join. The South Akld Thursday night ride is a good ride to go on and not to far out of our way.

Hey there , the South Auckland Thursday Night Riders (SATNR) rides out every Thursday night form the Papakura BP Service Centre on the Southern Motorway at 6.30pm every Thursday night.
Anyone wishing to come along is welcome, good luck with your social group guys, takes a bit of doing to get going but it's worth it in the end.
