After having such a good time last month I'd been really looking forward to this. And I also decided to moved up to 600SS. My goals for the day were qualifying for 600SS, not finishing last and not crashing. All achievable I thought. I didn't expect to get my lap times down to last months due to a possible wet/damp track.
I got to the track bright and early and got setup in our pits. Looking at the weather I thought I might get a dry qualifying as it looked sort of clear. So I didn't bother with the wets at all.
Out in scrub in and down the rain comes. After a couple slow laps slipping and sliding round I came in and the wets went straight on. :sweatdrop
Qualifying went fairly straight forward no major issues with the bike. The Rear felt a little bit slippery but nothing too major. I came in to find I had qualified so was really stoked with that.
Race 1. I got a terrible start (Looks like I need to work on these a bit) and I think I was about dead last in to turn 1. The next few laps I just tried to concentrate on my riding and managed to pass a few people. Near the end of the race a R6 got back past me. I was able to keep up with him through the S's ok but he would get away going through Dunlop. This corner I was really struggling to get my head round and would go far to slow through it. Having lots of surface water going into it and the white lines coming out of think played a big part of this.
Race 2. This was almost a repeat of race one. Got a bad start yet again :brick:!!! and then spent the rest of the race playing catch up.
At the end of the day I was pretty happy with the result and more importantly I achieved all my goals!! I had also quite enjoyed the wet weather as I really think it levels the playing feel a lot more. :done:
Thanks to the Vic Club for putting on another awesome round.
Looking forward to the next round soon!!! :soon: :first:
