Okay, long story short...

At work yesterday (Monday) when the pager gods (dispatchers) rang and gave me the joyous news that I was going to be blessed with taking a patient from Middlemore to... OPOTIKI!

My first question of course was "Where the F@ck is Opotiki?!"

My second question was "Who the smeg is coming with me?"

As it turns out, I was driving down by myself, with just the patient and her sister, oh joy of joys.

Fast forward 5 hours later, and I'm in pitch black, patient comfortably and professionally delivered, and desperately hungry.

So, called the comms center, told them I was going to graze for some form of local nourishment (can highly recommend the chicken fillet burgers from the Caltex! :niceone:) and parked up for a nosh up.

Got to thinking, hmmm... I've been on duty for a while - wonder how my driving hours are?

Called the Comms boss who said "EEP!" and threw me at the Watch Manager who said ... well, more than EEP I can tell you...

So, I was told to find a motel and bill the company for it... bugger me with a pitchfork, no vacancy in Opotiki nor in neighbouring Whakatane - so a mad ass dash to Tauranga it is!

Fervent texting between gijoe1313 and I ensues, and lo! I am sent in the direction of one DMNTD, who magnanimously offers me a spot on the fold out bed of goodness in his lounge. :Punk:

Managed to crawl into his driveway in my shiny Mercedes 15 minutes before the LTSA were due to get grumpy, and was met by a menagerie of bike porn and bling and all things that really make a biker dislike another biker lots and lots.

Much silence whilst the SB was viewed, then the usual talk of bikes, bike porn, bike riding and other bike type stuff ensued, before the maid made my bed, fluffed my pillows, and tucked me in. (And MAN does he have soft hands!)

Some hours later...

Awoken by a DMNTD shaped silhouette in the doorway, gently telling me to wake the f@ck up - okay, perhaps not in those words... and offers of coffee were flowing from both he and surprisingly ... professional looking Unit!

Just after 7 o the clock, I climbed into my ambulance, and caned off back to Orkland.

Big ups to DMNTD and Unit - really appreciate your hospitality at such short notice folks!

And to gijoe1313, travel agent to the lost and weary, cheers!

Nice to see the Towel Wronga crew are upholding the high social standards they are so well known for. (Aside from awesome, mad ass riding skills and general good bastardness)

Cheers!

You were lucky not to stay at Sidecar Bobs house in Tauranga. You might have woken up with a rather sore rear end!!! He has a tendancy for ambos too.......

:sweatdrop Well, when I never heard a peep from anyone after my UN arrangementing ... I durst feared that Donor was in a gimp suit and being lathered up by a cowhide whip!

Or the other scenario, he nicked a bike, and DMNTD has been chasing him down (which shouldn't take too long!)

All good, I'm just blardy jealous that a non-bike riding biker got to see the new sprotsbiked praked in the gargre with nary a wasing issue! :angry2:

I tell ya I was sorely tempted last night to take a ride out to the Toe-ranges to check on them all! :innocent:

Don't you feed the patients during transport?

You'd be confusing us with an airline. I had no Red Bull, so sadly no wings...

Something like 11 hours in a 12 hour period ... or something... but yeah, even we get audited by the LTSA from time to time...

COD man - when the bill gets paid, I unlock the doors...

I thought about getting a photo, but the thought of having to upload the pic by activating my phone from within the recesses of my rectum wasn't terribly appealing...

Heh, gave the flashy lights a blip when I arrived, I did see a couple of doors open... give the oldies something to panic over...
