That is only the RRP (which is currently the price on the floor) they will be going for cheaper than that.

And a less pleasant auction coming up in a week or so:

There was an ad in yesterday's Dominion Post for a liquidation auction onsite at Phil Turnbull Motorcycles on September 6 at 10am.

Auction includes used motorcycles and quad bikes, company utes, workshop tools and equipment, motorcycle parts and tyres, plus retail stock, clothing, helmets and accessories.

For details contact auctioneer: Todd Foster (06) 835-7772 or 021-510-097. www.maidensandfoster.co.nz

Bloody hell, I'd feel bad going to that auction. However, the almighty dollar rules all I guess :(

Just thought you may like to know this before you plan on heading up for the auction on Saturday. Andy rang the auctioneer earlier today as his boss was interested in buying a jacket for his wife, so he wanted to know if individual items were being sold or whether it would all be in lots. The auctioneer said there was so much stuff that it would all be sold in lots - and said for example tyres would be grouped in similar sizes, and would be sold in lots of no less than six tyres, but more likely lots of 10 or more. Jackets, helmets, etc would be sold the same way.

So if you are after a few bargains, be aware you'll have to buy several items and then try and onsell the rest. And don't forget the 10% buyer's premium on top of what price the auction reaches.

Official word from the auctioneers:

The merchandise will be offered in lots/groups of similar items. Sorry I can't confirm how large the lots will be until Friday, but must stress that due to the quantity involved the Lots will be larger. I expect that this will cater more to speculators & trade than private individuals. i.e.. 4 x Motorcycle jackets same brand/style various sizes: 1 Lot. 4 x Helmets same value/various sizes: 1 Lot, Box Lot Various goggles & Gloves.etc
We may offer some identical lots with the option of more, but can only do this when they are identical.
As much as we wish to do the best (turnover) for the liquidation, we must sell & have dispersed all items to clear the premises.

A few photos of what's on offer are here http://www.maidensandfoster.co.nz/Auction-Input/special-auction-photographs.doc

So you can see why things will be sold in groups rather than single items when it comes to accessories, gear, helmets, oils, tyres etc etc. (Bummer though). However the auctioneers say there is no reserve so anything could happen.

Attached is the list from the auctioneer which briefly mentions the plant/tools etc, and retail stock for sale.
