Very cool indeed - do you know a few peeps with decent cameras for a live feed of the action as well ?

I might have a camera good enough, and tripod - just need a camera person.

Or you could have a 4-5 static camera's and just have someone changing what's being shown, that would reduce the amount of people needed, I can help out with the editing if you want to make a dvd afterwards .

Ok the camera I have is a Sony DCR-TRV950 - I believe it is 'publishing' quality and gives a pretty good picture. Only has 12x zoom though so bikes on the back straight get a bit small.

Would need a long cable from camera to the monitor and someone to drive it.

If you slowly develop this idea into somthing good enough It may even reach the point where TV people are interested.
Considering the ammount of exciting racing thats going on out there at the moment that would be a VERY good thing for our great sport.

Great idea!

Yeah, I will be a bit busy as well.

Just need an operator and a looooong cable from camera to monitor.

Any offers ?

If you can't get any one else I might be able to help... Have never done that kind of thing before though lol! So I'd suggest you try find someone who knows what they are doing

All you need is good eyesight and a steady hand.

Now all we need is 20m or so of cable......somebody ?

That would be great - but TV don't do free stuff!! It costs truck loads to put on TV- although if you were an ex-all black or an all black on holiday, it would be fine!! Sucks!! Whatever happened to that thread/website that you had to post in for wanting more motorsport on TV??
I agree with you Koba, the racing is really exciting to watch, and if it was on more, then I'm sure we'd get more and more airtime, more sponsors, better events........................

i'll hopefully have a camera on the bike so i could put it on after the streetstock racing if you wanted, might not be exciting

S-video's probably the way to go for extension cords.

You can buy little wireless security camera's what would be quite cool, could have em static and then just switch between em. *Cough* Vic club *Cough*

i can get a few more cameras for the bikes if some people are willing to pay $215 each ready to go

Maybe in the future, but i doubt that will be happening anytime soon.

What cameras are they?

xr-rider
24th July 2008, 20:58
they are run out models. i am bringing one to the next round of buckets i have got it mounted on the bars at the moment, but will probably put it on the tank before then. they have got a mount for a push bike helmet, shoulder, handle bars and a few other things. im going to have a bit of a play with it at the buckets.

i was thinking the wireless cameras might be the way to go, i could purchase some, just depends on quality i guess and range/interferance would onlyneed two cameras!!

You'll also need the associated gear (tripods etc) and someone suitable skilled to operate the things too. Not trying to shoot the idea down, i think it's awesome, but if it's gonna be done might as well do it right.

Perhaps approach a broadcasting company and ask them what they would do in the situation, or if they could perhaps do it for free?

What about getting in touch with Steve from Kiwi Track Days, he's a freelance camera guy for telly I think. He'd be a useful guy to get some tips or advice from.

Ed, talk to Neil Martin, he knows all about this sorta shit.

He ran a wireless camera from his bike back to his bike all last season. Got some great footage of Jamie McNair tossing his bike into the scenery while leading the race last year too. :(

Like you have said with the taupo road race spectacular a DVD is another option.
Slowly developing somthing like this over time is the best approach methinks.

I have a Manfrotto tripod that I'm happy to lend out if needed.

Deano

I have a tripod for my camera which does the job - I can take it as a back up if need be.

I just checked it out and it records to mini cassette while displaying the picture on the tv/monitor.

The camera can use RCA plugs, i-link or S-Video for the cable - take your pick Ed, if this is how you want to run with it.

Ok - as I understand it - the screen will be in or near Ed's pit (garage #1).

I am in garage #9, so if Kyle or MM, or Scrivvy Crow are able to help out - track me down and I can show the camera works. It is pretty simple.

I am planning on doing the scrub in session, so will be busy after briefing until after qualifying.

But - we'll work it out somehow.
