Yep, I don't have much choice. Missus takes the car, and I won't be caught dead on a Bus, i'd rather get wet and cold.

You pussies commuting on motorcycles with your warm waterproof gear and soft seats make me sick.
Pedal power for the win!

No worries. I ride every day, rain, hail, or shine. Zip in liners if cold, zip out liners if hot, 1 piece rain suit if wet, tinted visor all year round. Beats sitting in queues, especially with the price of petrol these days.

I avoid the rain like a dose of the shits unless caught out in summer touring.
I had the bike booked in for a service yesterday - started off fine (if overcast and about 4 degrees is fine) and naturally it turned to shit :oi-grr:
The weekend is meant to be utter crap in CHCH - good weather to spend in the shed cleaning the bike!

The wet road really spooks me. Just inexperienced I guess. Other than that I really enjoy riding in the rain - just the look and feel of it - misty roads, rain beading across a waxed visor, bleak grey sky, hotgrips on full, warm jacket done up tight.
Until I get cold, then its no fun.

I ride in these shitty weathers not because im 'hard' or a 'seasoned biker'... I just do it because I like riding, so I will ride.
It's fun!

I ride most days. I have taken the cage probably less than a dozen times this year.

I ride every day no matter what. In fact my first ever day on a bike when taking the BHS test was in hail. Just did Hutt -> Wellington and its kinda scary. But I find if i tuck in a racing position the wind is bearable.

Whats the point in riding in the rain? Its not fun. So I don't do it. Simple.

Rain is alright as long as you adjust your riding style for it. Wet and windy down here today but I really enjoyed my ride in to work this morning.

What? Its simple logic really. Why do something you don't enjoy when there are warmer more comfortable alternatives? Seems pretty clear cut to me.

I did the math. My Bike was $6 dearer per month than taking the train, got me there in half the time, and i didn't need to walk for 20 minutes at the end.
So yeah, i take my bike. Moving closer to work soon though.

Also it's kinda fun riding past all the stopped cages. And the weathers not that bad, usually pretty good at 7 in the morning, and rains when i get to work.

Oops. I forgot the "must attack that which I fear to comprehend" motto of KB.
Never mind.
Carry on.
Nothing to see here.

As you see, I quite enjoy riding my bike when I get the chance, so rain/hail/shine I ride, as that is what I enjoy :sunny:

Can't say I'm a fan of the rain and this yuk weather :cold:- and because I have a company cage don't usually have a need to ride.
However, I was on the bus today to pick up the broken (now fixed) cage and I cold, wet and freezing - more so than I would have been on the bike. Just wouldn't look right hopping on to a bus with ya bike gear on!
Or would it???? :scratch::killingme

Well, I don't have a car license so I'm sorta forced to ride whatever the weather.
I have no problem with riding in the rain though, it's good fun. Keeps you on your toes when cagers pull out on you left, right and centre.
Just today I had one cager change lanes right into me, I went into the flush median heading towards a cgaer sitting there waiting to turn, flick of the wrist to get infront of numb nuts that turned into me and a quick duck under flush median cager.
Makes the boring rides to work exciting and death defying.

I have a short commute through south Wellington. I do it in any weather and always enjoy it. Yesterday's southerlies were pretty wild, weren't they? Almost enough to make me avoid riding around Lyall Bay. But not quite. :wari:
I don't mind being buffeted by the wind, but I don't like other vehicles around me when it happens. I think if my commute took me along the motorway, i might have wussed out yesterday. :(

The wife and I commute from Lower Hutt to Wellington every day on the 250.
Rain and wind aren't to much of an issue, the problem I have is that the cage drivers just cant see out of their metal boxes. :nono:
Haven't been into work this week, as I've been home sick. So the wife has been taking the car :(

Bikers do it. Cos its fun.
Weather's just weather. Moving air and water.
Those hesitant of riding in the rain least they dissolve can weather prrof themselves.
Take equal parts of beeswax and turpentine. Heat the beeswax to about 200 degree, stir in the turpentine and fully immerse the body for half an hour. It will water proof your skin, and you will not then dissolve in the rain.
Works for me.

I was riding pram to welly every day. Rode home on Tuesday night in hail and all sorts of rain, bout 800m from home thinking i cant wait to get this wet gear off guy in an oncomming turning bay decided to shoot a gap. Cept the gap was me, apparantly i was invisible. After i smashed his windscreen with my ass he did stop. No insurance, no license, gf's car, on a sickness benifiet so i kindly asked the helpful guys that blocked the road to call the police so he wouldnt bail. Bike goes to the shop to be assessed tomorrow so for now im on the train to work. Luckily im just a bit sore and not home with broken limbs though.
So yea end of rant, if the weather doesnt get you moron's will

I have a work vehicle, so I can't ride to work most days even if I wanted to. (Well, I could whinge to the boss about it, but whinging to yourself looks silly, generally).
So I go out riding in the rain on weekends.

I often go for a ride when it is wet for practice...did SH16 / Woodcocks last Sunday in rain...it was great fun...and no heated grips, a teeshirt and boxers under me leathers...

I get out when I can – I don’t like riding in poor weather, but sometimes I just need to get out on my bike and never mind the weather.
I can ride in poor weather and wet roads, but commuting to work on a bike is not for me – too many risks, gave that away years ago.

Whats the point in riding in the rain? Its not fun. So I don't do it. Simple.I agree with you. But sometime, when its misty, drizzling, and freezing cold, wrap up really warm and go for a quiet ride and take the scenery in, and see something you haven't seen before.

Fahrenheit or Celsius? And does it make the wind go around you too?
I think it was Wednesday night was a bit blowy on the Harbour Bridge and my bad brain started to convince me I was going to get blown over the lane 5 concrete barrier into the oncoming traffic. I fel oddly calm and accepting about it. Luckily my good brain realised that was a very good way to totally fuck up, so I switched back to concentrating on the job in hand and got home just dandy. Weird head space for a good few seconds, though.
Oh yeah I forgot: I commute on the GT whatever is going on out there (given that it doesn't snow in AKL, of course). I'd have to be really desperate to take the cage.

Will go to uni by bike always. But for work (80 km round trip) will take the one of the cages if bad weather is predicted.
I can't be assed dealing with storing wet gear etc when an alternative is available.

Used to always ride my bike no matter what.
In fact I once made a 1.5 trip from Palmy to Auckland once in pouring rain. I say 1.5 because I got to auckland okay and on the way back I highsided the fucking thing....
I just got a bike again and I'll ride in bad weather but I'm a lot more cautious now. And when I say Cautious I mean I ride like a nana... I think I might take a car to work tomorrow though. I'm not sure if I'm ready for a 140km/hr crosswind on Harbour bridge just yet... Need better tyres that's going to give me some more confidence first.

Well! Seeing as I got my learners on a totally shite day, and on my THIRD GODDAMN TRY *Memory retention of a rock ape*, of course I rode around the whole day soaking bloody wet from my waist down!! :Punk:
Cost me 50$ fuel, though :shit:
Was quite fun =)
Learned to not change up on the paint, or turn, or accelerate, decelerate etc etc...
My rear has a 'flat spot'. Some dick did a couple of burnouts on it  and i'm sure that little flat-to-curve hump has something to do with accelerating around a corner.
Also learned I quite often get a false second. Goddamn it's so embarrassing :o
And, i'm sure it'll cost me lots of money in the near future, clutchless upshifting down to a tee
Anyway,
Smile too big on my big ugly head to worry about the weather.
Except this 'intense depression' may just induce exactly that.
Be careful this weekend/monday/tuesday/wednesday :scooter:
