Yes it is! Windy in Wellington, what a surprise. It's pretty rough out there at the moment so riders on smaller bikes and scooters might want to take a bit of care.
Don't usually get pushed around too much on the SV, but it was pretty entertaining this morning coming down the Gorge and long SH2. I hate the headwinds going home!

Hell - where will it stop... climate change is wreaking havoc... wind in Wellington??? Next thing you know there will be snow in Christchurch or rain in Auckland... maybe we should all shift to Oz where the weather is stable

Yes indeedy. It's not raining (yet) for a start. And believe me the SV is a lot better than my TS125 that I used to ride when the internet hadn't been invented. Hunker down behind the screen and all is good.

Yeah that weather thing is tricky. Who would have thought that climate was changeable??

Tis a lovely calm :sunny: day here in Nelson.. just for a change.. although it tis a tad chilly with the frost :cold:
ps: Roadsafe taught us when riding in strong winds you need to change down a gear & "power through" the wind.. it works!! :niceone:
Stay safe you lot up Norf.. :2thumbsup looks like you're in for a rough time! :(

Here we go with the bullshit about it being windy in Wellington ALL the time. Small minded parochial idiots.
Newsflash. Rugby is a minority sport. For homos.
The weather isn't THAT bad, certainly nowhere near as bad as it was in the early 90s.
If you can't cope with it, learn some skills and FFS stop whining about it.
A bad day (or 15 minutes) on a bike is infinitely better than a good day at the office. I'd rather lie under a bike in a ditch full of icy water than have to sit through yet another meeting.

was windy as all hell yesterday here as well. went into town, and basically had to parallel park to avoid the wind... sideways like normal would have seen her blown over.
the motorway bridge is finally back to 80k [was 30k for 'seismic strengthning'] so had fun both yesterday morning, and today as well. going 80k, but feeling a lot faster. im sure the cars going the other way think im a nutter.
heading home last night in 3rd cos 4th wouldnt do anything. slowed for a left hand corner, quite a sharp one that i havent mastered yet, and foolishly let me revs drop when changing gear. ended up in 1st and not moving, feet still on the pegs, and getting noticibly blown across the lane to the right. never had that happen before. finally got moving around the corner and had to keep readjusting the line cos i was being blown towards the damn island. never known a 50k corner to take so long to get around, lmfao.
i think shell be living in the shed this weekend!

What do you reckon it was on the Beaufort scale?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaufort_scale
Force 8 ("Twigs broken from trees. Cars veer on road.")? Or force 9 ("Larger branches break off trees, construction/temporary signs and barricades blown over, damage to circus tents and canopies.") Maybe even 10 ("Trees broken off or uprooted, saplings bent and/or deformed, poorly attached asphalt shingles and shingles in poor condition peel off roofs.")
Of course in Wellington you have to allow for the fact that the circus tents and canopies all blew away years ago. Not that it's windy here :innocent:

Today (a day of dealing with unrooting trees) I had to deal with 2 trees in aro valley which wanted to join the 4 that we had to crane out yesterday down a bank.
Then I had to climb and take the canopy out of a big pohut that had started to uproot a few storys above a nice tiled roof on the ridgeline above seatoun. REALLY windy, was hoping tree wouldnt give way with me in it, but we rigged it all down in record time, didnt break a single tile.
You know its bad when other tree companies call you in to do these jobs as they cant get any of there own guys to climb certain trees.
Saved the guy from having his house fucked, he will only annoy me if he thinks my bill is to high after I risked my life to do it when nobody else would.
. (PS if you have ugly trees exposed to wind on crumbling banks above your home, get them dealt to BEFORE they start to fall on your house)
Windy? Yeah, probably going to be doing lots of dumb work when the shit hits the fan this weekend.Ugly gut wrenching work, but I wouldnt swap my job for anything. LETS GO FOR A RIDE!
