if its gusting up to 120... you won't be thinking of any wise cracks... you'll be sitting in a ditch, asking yourself how you got there

nope, I sorted some people's issues in the morning, then it went real quiet on email and phone. Thought fuck this, its going to piss down this weekend, I haven't ridden in the country for about 5 months. Went home, dusted off my gear (THAT was depressing... it actually got dusty ) and went out for a couple of hours.
I'll work late tonight and work tomorrow anyway... gotta love flexible hours if the clients don't have immediate needs :2thumbsup

Double check the security on your bike - and not from the storm either.Wild weather is the best time for very serious thieves to be active - you'd be surprised at the burglaries carried out in bad storms. No one can hear,no one goes out to have a look.....

Scary stuff - make sure you put all your wheelie bins in the garage, and move anything from your section that might fly about ...... Then open the windows on the side of the house away from the prevailing wind .... pour yourself a fabulous merlot, run a bath and enjoy the show!!!!:done:

Well, the storm last week saw beach properties at Piha beach getting particularly wet, some pieces floating away.. will be a laugh to go down to the beach for this one.
I'll still be out and about on the bike.. luckily I decided to wait for *this* weekend to get quite a few tasks sorted. I'm a genius..

Bah, I used to do a bit of work for a moving company. They're actually pretty good at keeping everything dry. I have much respect for the amouont of effort some of these people go to, to get complete customer satisfaction..

Gusts of 180... Me thinks a spare pair of undies is the least of your worries. Stay safe if your riding in that crap!

When you think about it 120kph is only 78mph...hardly serious...UK often has 100mph winds as well as places like America which have hurricanes etc.....NZ does have wobbly knee syndrome

Well it's pretty awful in Coromandel with water getting sucked up into the air off the harbour. Hate to think what it's like in Whitianga. I thought we'd got most things battened down ok but forgot about a big ceramic pot on our deck. That's now in pieces after getting blown over.
Biggest worry is the coast road getting blocked with fallen trees. We're heading for Akl airport tomorrow, going overseas to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary!

Thought about leaving now and staying the night in Auckland? That coast road is not friendly in this weather for sure, last weather report I heard said probably not going to reach Auckland till midnight, tonight will be the kicker I reckon.

Meh, bunch of pansies. I walked into several bike shops today - Motomail, Cyclespot etc and they all said I was the only rider they'd actually had that rode in all day.
Even the harbour bridge wasn't too bad - had a cops flashing his lights behind all the way over - surely he was just playing tail-end-charlie for me right? ;)

Over the harbour bridge at 10:30 - slight woble every now and then but not too bad - and off to the city.
On my way out of the i-max carpark I felt the wind so SH16 was the prefered way to the shore :D
I only saw a guy on a bycycle and a gyo on a Black ZX14, who I could tell was also impressed to see me coz he gave me a big wave which I returned kindly :wavey:

Riding home yesterday afternoon, there was a magnificent ring around the sun. Today has been resonable, but in the last hour or so it has increased quite a bit. A mate from Paihia was going to head south for a visit... He called and said "I'm bloody well staying indoors!".

Wasn't that bad mid afternoon around 3pm out on the motorways. Btw, the geniuses that removed all the trees on the NW near the city just made it better for crazy wind, and it looks shit. Very little rain, just wind, which is actually quite nice.
It worsened around 5pm going back east, quite the ball being buffeted around, but the rain was pouring down, vehicles just about vanished in the spray and MUPPETS DRIVING WITHOUT THEIR LIGHTS :angry2: Cordura pants don't really work... that annoyed me most really.
Keep the speed up around 100 and it ain't bad really. Harbour bridge was apparently closed to bikes again. Oh, aquaplaned a bit... damn it slows you down <_<

Wasn't that bad. Funny -- I got to work, went to park in my usual spot (many here have seen my bike on Parnell Rd), and the tree (some sort of sapling, 3-4 metres tall though) next to my spot was bent over past 45 degrees and touching the boot of the car on the other side of the parking spot. With some help, pulled it back up and tied it back to the stakes it was previously tied to. Still wasn't quite trusting enough, so parked on the other side of the tree

Nobody told me!. Went over Saturday afternoon, and back Saturday evening. far from the worst it's been. Lots of wind, but constant sort of wind, not very gusty. Constant wind is easy enough (So long as you keep the speed up !)

Should've seen Te Aroha, not pretty. Car got blown onto my side of the road yesterday when I was dropping off a couple of team-mates. A few roofs ripped right off. Trees down everywhere. We just got the power back on this evening after 8pm as neighbours tree took out the power line (and pole..lol).
Fuggin pine needles all over the house and garden.
