Well, apparently I've got one! Wow, what a response to my first post (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=78470). Who bestowed it upon me and how?! Seems like fun!

From the FAQ section
Reputation or "Rep points" are given for witty, intelligent and/or funny posts (or any other reason a member thinks), by clicking on the scales at the top right of the members post.
Reputation points can be viewed in your User Control Panel ("User CP" at the top of your window)
When you have become a senior member (140 days and 240 posts) you will be able to view who gave you rep points.
Red Rep
Usually it is because someone disagrees with a post of yours. However, you may also receive red rep for starting threads in the wrong place. This is designed to educate members about starting threads in the right place, in order to receive the most help.
Shit happens, don't let it bother you.

How can you see that Maha? The only way I know my own bling is to click on User Control Panel and I'm not aware of how to see anyone elses.....despite being here for 3 years and having my post count reduced from 1500 or something (mainly Rant and Rave).......grumble grumble..... :D

Rep Post Stats......if I click on your user name, your profile comes up and on the far right of the (where it says 'about me/statistics etc) is your rep post stats or sometimes a couple of arrows, click on that and anybody can see how many reds/grenns that user has aquired....

(14 red & 9 green now) personally its all a load of shit, people will red bling yah for the stupidest things and thats not really what it should be used for...
The idea is if in a discussion you truly agree with a statement then you can give a green bling and a reason why.
If you truly believe some one is wrong with a statement or comment (not just because you disagree) then you give a red and a reason why. It should not be use like... You give me a red so I give me one back etc etc etc... thats not what its all about. Do not be abusive to the other member just because you disagree
Problem on here is people give out the bling willy nilly (both red and green) for no reason at all.

supposed to be, but as of late I have noticed there are a few small-minded fukwits that like to abuse you through this channel. And just so they feel better might even use the pm button.
Don't let it bother you if this happens, they have no penis or at the very least a small one - kinda goes with their big obnoxious mouth and their arrogant attitude.
Its really quite sad when its no-one you actually know nor have ever met. But I guess when you do meet - they will remember you . . .

On the subject of bling. I hate that there is a limit. I could bling all damn day
I green bling for many reasons.
If I agree, if ya gave me a laugh, if I want to send some love or make you smile, to show support for your situation or argument.
I hardly ever red bling. I do it when someone has really just got up my nose. Most of the time this isn't because they have attacked me directly either?
More likely they are attacking someone else OR I find their contribution so inappropriate (I deem that as something unprovoked which you wouldn't dream of saying or doing with or to, a complete stranger (or bunch of strangers) especially ones that you might want to form even a minor and mild friendly association with)
Don't get me wrong I love a good round of giving each other shit openly in a forum but I kinda find red repping for it a bit pussy. Say it on the forum or don't say it at all...most of the red rep I have I'm quite happy with just the one from Deanohit that I regret...silly fat fingered bugger

Hmmm....thanks Maha and Sinfull but something isn't quite right here. I can't see the bling stats in Firefox - I can see two green blings for Maha way out on the very edge of the righthand page margin, but no data.
For Sinfull I can't see any bling at all in Profile but as the page loads, the bling is there for a microsecond, then gets overlaid by Statistics. Same in Internet Explorer so must be my user settings.

Reps mean nothing - although if you do get enough red and end up in negative points you start losing abilities on the website such as posting photos.
Unless you are a real real real prick, it aint happening and reps are to be ignored as they are worthless.
My favourite red rep given to me by a famous KBer:
"...rep comments removed..."

If what is posted in rep comments is abusive, you are encouraged to report it to the site moderators, so that the person being abusive can be dealt with under the site rules. if it is just stupid then you are encouraged to laugh about it ... but not to quote it in threads.

How am I infracted when I didn't say who it was, where they were from, or any details whatsoever?
If you want abusive ones reported, I have maybe 6 or 10 from the same person?
But there's no details who it is posted in any thread so what is the issue?
James Deuce
27th July 2008, 21:20
Typical KB BS. Those that reek of sardines the most are unable to "man up" in a thread, so they toss an abusive rep out and KB refuses to let people publicly point out those who are most likely to leave an accident scene without helping.
Most red reps tossed (appropriate verb award of the year goes to: ME!) my way are from people who would rather bottle a four year old in the face than admit they haven't got their facts straight. Not the sort of people you want around really. But then according to our education system, facts are subjective and only "information" is important.

If rep comments are removed by mod's, do we question what action... or lack of, is/has been taken by said mod....??? when we dont know what was said...??? I would rather laugh about it and quote it, than take it personally... wouldn't you ??? Some do come up with silly reasons for red rep's !!!

WARNING NOTED! However, I still don't see what the big deal is when names were not mentioned by myself or "The Lone Rider" (is that allowed)?
It took a while to find that rule as I thought the home page should have the link to the site rules. I wasn't expecting to have to hunt through forum threads to get the answers I wanted. How can users be expected to understand and follow the rules when they are buried within the forum?

the site rules are a joke.
It all depends which mod sees what. There is no consistency - so what is the point of having 'rules'?
Rules are made to be broken. The law is to be upheld.

LOL close - the law is also subject to interpretation which varies from Judge to Judge (hence the whole process of appealing a ruling and taking it to a "better judge" in a higher court.
I'd rather have the rules thanks. They actually make KB what it is.
