No I didn't play with your heart...

(Given the opportunity i might )

Seeing as the misses need the car today I braved the weather and took the bike to work. No real issues getting there, apart from realising that my pants leaked like a sieve.

After work I pootled off to motomail to buy some new pants. (go go go advertising on KB) new pants and glove inderts aquired I geared up and headed home. Stopped at Galbraiths for a beer and ciggie (as you do), geared up again and was heading down Mt Eden Rd. Coming round a very mild corner at around 55k got a gust of wind and found myself sliding on my arms and arse and all I could think was WOOHOO this is fun, clipped the cabinet on the side of the road with my legs and came to a very fun stop. Bikes all ok apart from a broken mirror/bar end and bent brake lever. Me - only a slight bruise where bike dropped on leg and where forearm hit ground

Makes me a firm ATGATT believer once again. The new pants basically unscathed - jacket arms now midly tattered but still ok ish. ( I fortunatly had resisted temptation to buy a new $900 Dainese jacket not 45 mins before ) No contact of helmet on road.

So it'll be another call to order parts...and another 3 weeks to wait for them. :mobile:in that time I may look at jackets.

No question is a bad question.

AGATT stands for All The Gear All The Time.

Thanks for asking the question. Wasn't sure on that one myself.

Ah yeah, I'm sure the gear can be inconvenient when you get to your destination (the boots seem pretty uncomfortable) but I don't plan to ride without it all!

I'm a firm ATTGAT follower. "but it's just around the corner" isn't a good excuse not to wear full gear: Cager's are still Cager's, motorbikes are still motorbikes and the road will still screw you up if you hit it in jeans and a hoodie.

Glad to hear your ok and the bike is fixable!

Your mum. :argue:

Keeping on topic, glad to hear that you're okay... I'm not to sure about "my bike is sliding down the road alongside me, I could die, the bike could end up as a write-off, but heck, WOO HOO!"

Another entry to the "Weird people" book I s'pose...

I realised that

A. I wasn't going to die
B. I cant control anything so I may as well enjoy it

I was midly worried that I had screwed the bike but all is OK.

Based on Sidecar bobs comments I am going to go find a better front tyre too. Something a bit stickier.

Oh and does anyone know what i can put on chrome to stop it from rusting too much? Not too bothered to fix scratches of the exhaust just yet but don't really want to let them rust too much

That's one way to look at it.
To answer your question, Vaseline. Or similar airtight substance, try to clear the existing rust first though.

Just occurred to me... Clearcoat might be just as good, a bitch to clean off though and tends to be a bit less than clear.
