View Full Version : Summer breeze, makes me feel fine...

Being something of an optimist, particularly where the riding of bikes is concerned, I predict that summer has arrived!
Last night was a fantastic evening, and also Mrs H's rostered night off. I had relieved myself of command early and walpoled homewards.
What to do on a glorious summer's evening? Dinner in Palmerston North!
We'd cleared the Wellington commuter traffic by the time we reached the Mermaid House. There was still a bit of crapola on and around the road at Paekakariki after last week's floods, but not of any consequence. The road surface at McKays Crossing has been well repaired too.
A gas stop in Waikanae and then off to Palmie via the Kimberley turnoff, Shannon and Linton. Great corners.
Home again the opposite way. We had thought of returning via the Pahiatua track and Masterton but some of us had to work today...
I got to ride the ST in the dark last night for the first time. The headlights are AMAZING!! A nice sharp beam that cuts to the end of most straights and which also throws a nice pattern on the road ahead whilst cornering. Fantastic!!
Also made a decision last night to invest in an electric screen conversion, but not this month, which will be tyres month...
Woo hoo, summer!

Even if Hitcher has jinxed the weather for the rest of us, he can turn on "Summer" on his STX climate control for that gentle summer evening effect every day of the year.

You didn't get them to include new tyres as part of the deal, then?
And what, pray tell, is "walpoled"? :spudwhat:

Well, by the time I replace them the tyres will have done 3,000 more km than they had at purchase...

Just like the one on wari`s Suzuki, only when that came out people took the piss, when Honda do it it`s suddenly a great idea.

Hamish and I ventured out with HerB_4 and another mate on Wednesday night too, over to Featherston for a drink (non-alcoholic I hasten to point out) at what used to be Burlings restaurant (can't remember the new name). The food there looked very nice too. It was warm and completely calm. A nice way to end the day, though we were home just as dusk was setting in.
Were going to repeat last night but it was rather windy so we flagged it.

When Suzuki first put them on the old GSX1100 Honda riders laughed at them out of jealousy. Its taken Honda another 15 years to catch up, and there are a whole new bunch of riders now. New riders who can appreciate the foresight that Suzuki showed in 1989.

Is that the place on the lefthand side opposite the Mobil station? Chapellis? Does really good pizzas.

Chapellis have a $10 pasta and pizza night on Wednesdays. Really, really lovely food at takeaway prices.

But of course I am.
However, I never noticed the "Walpoling" thing, and if I had, I would've forgotten it anyway, like just about everything else that's leaked out my ears /nose and dribbled down my neck.
I'm very old you know.:blank:

I am in the same predicament as Scumdog, start work 13:00, end 23:30..... Still, bit of a ride to and from work.
Happy, sunny days to everyone :ride:
