Had a run in with a nice guy in a Red Mazda 6 this morning!
Had some nice flashing lights in the front grill.
I should have been walking to work!
140km's,
He just said that he knew how fast these bikes were, and then checked my lisence.
Then he said to just slow down on his roads, and have a good day!!
MY GOD!!!
ITS MY LUCKY DAY!! :yeah:
We need more cops like that in Welly.
not an asshole or not loving himself!
GOOD GUY!

Wasn't that nice of the :Police: to let you off....
What would it have cost you if you had been fined???
Doing 140km in what speed limit area???
How many demerit points would you have lost as well?

I was warned at the weekend about a red Mazda6. Sounds like its operator is a reasonable sort of dude.
Although I have suspected for a while that the HPs cut bikers a little more slack than our cager mates...

Yeah, good one. Screw any chance someone else might get to share your luck by putting enough details to identify the guy in a very public place (here), so that there is every chance his bosses could hear about it.
Wonder how likely he is to repeat if he's been given a grilling by his bosses?

yup... traffic bosses have nothing better to do than google for "red mazda 6" or sit on KB hoping one day someone will mention them....... ;)
SB, you could change the title to "White commodore with police racing stripes" :pinch: that might keep the boss busy trying to find out who let off 1 bike rider....

The violence of the reaction was not only because of *what* you said. It was also because that was the ONLY thing you'd said.
There are members on the forum who could probably get away much more lightly with saying that stuff after spending months or years here exhibiting general sensibleness and intelligence on related topics.
Unfortunately, everyone's initial opinion of you was formed from that one post.

You get rep points for posts that are outstanding in their own right. If people form a general opinion of you as a really, really good sort of chap, less-interesting posts are more likely to garner pointage.

Should have taken his number down and wrote a complimentary letter to his area commander. Policing like that should be encouraged. I bet you rode pretty damn well after being stopped too.

I have learnt my lesson, If I got a ticket, I would have just gotten really angry and thrashed the living shit out of the bike right to work.
Better way to do things!(the way he did)

I understand that when you get let off a ticket it's between you and the issuing officer only. I didn't mean tell his boss that he let him off, just a note saying he had contact with const whomever and the constable behaved in a most professional manner etc etc.

Fair comment but you can understand why I'm a bit 'gun-shy, after all Joe Public has the habit of dropping you in it unknowingly and it would not surprise me if the letter went out mentioning the speed involved with a juicy added comment like " and my friends told me that he just wrned them for doing that kind of speed too" - and thinking they were saying the right thing :pinch:

John Kelly spends a lot of time reading motoring mags and replying to letters critical of his revenue raisers.
But then evangelists are like that.
