Don't get Mobig pants. Mine leaked from day 1.
I've got a Teknic Sprint jacket which I find pretty good, comfortable & converts from mesh to warm & dry (mostly - I need to modify the ends of the sleeves to keep my gloves dry inside I think) It doesn't have huge pockets but does have lots of other nice little features. RRP is 499 but I got mine for 400 on sale.
Cheers

Finally got time to have a look at what jacket I have.
I have a Dririder Rally X evo. It is very good. I have the optional thermal lining kit, this gives gives more padding for elbows and shoulders, and includes the bladder for the drink system.
I have not been cold wearing it. Only once has some water got in and that was after a day riding in the rain, one sleeve was slightly damp.
The thermal lining and the wind stop can both be taken out for the hot summer rides.
Great features, cell phone pocket right inside out of weather, big pockets on front have an opening behind (that I only just found!) where you can put your hands etc etc.
I didn't look at any other jackets, this does the job (just wish when I bought my blue one that I had known that there were orange ones available!)

Dririder Rallycross Pro jacket - specs here http://202.45.102.66/page.php?pid=1239. Heaps of features - bladder, zip out reversible liner doubles as casual jacket), heaps of pockets, zip off sleeves.
The pants look good too, have ventilation zips http://202.45.102.66/page.php?pid=1240
These are the new 2008 models. Whites is the distributor in NZ http://www.whites.co.nz/products/dririder/600.aspx - jacket is $399, pants $199. Looks like they have previous models available as well http://www.whites.co.nz/products/dririder/ - scroll through whole page as they aren't in order. You mentioned Summit pants & jacket which are $299 & $499
My hubby has an Rjays Evo jacket and Voyager II pants (couple of years old now). Rjays seems to be excellent quality - both jacket & pants have worn very well over two years and are still waterproof.
www.rjays.com.au their stuff is widely available in NZ but NZ distributor website is dealer access only.
Hope this helps.

Saw an add for a Motodry Adventurer Jacket in Twowheels a few months ago but only just though if it. It looks to be very very similar to the Rallycross of about 3 generations ago (the one I have) but with zip off arms. RRP in ausi is $330 but I dont know if anybody is brining them in here?
Not quite sure what to make of the liners description re is the liner/s back to front like the new Rallycross?

I got my new set of gear last week
Spidi Raider enduro jacket and pants, w/ liners
and Spidi Defender Armour jacket thingy, all together and its so minimal and so much movement, its crazy how well made it seems too, :D jacket also has pockets for the liners of jacket and trousers in its back bottom part~, or just for whatever i guess
Motoline enduro set is good too, very quick drying etc etc, breathable as, multi liners, zip off arms, seemed to keep me dry too except for a torn button mount at bottom of the H2o liner,
will still use it for trail riding, and use spidi for anythting adventure related
probably gonna get the new Spidi Wake gloves soooon, spidi jabs have done their dash and are a bit tooo vented, very good also thou,

You should be sponsored Shrek for the amount of riding you do mate. Would be a good testament for riding gear and any endorsement coming from you in the Deep South would stand up in a court of law...:)

 cheers mate after my off in Feb 09, I went to replace my Teknic pants a found they don't do them any more, so I got up-graded to Alpine star pants but they had to be ordered in as they don't stock them in NZ, have done over 55k & never had wet gonads or upper body yet, $1700 jacket & pants, insurance is a great thing
I'm going to go against what the other have said and say Dririder is shit and I'd never buy anything they made again, I had a bit of an off and they jacket was damaged more than I would have expected, and the stitching in the pants didn't hold together under normally riding and was starting to come apart pretty early on.
I have a combo of Revit and Spidi gear and the quality is hugely better, they fit much better so the armour is in the right position and stays where it is meant to, I have a teknics sport jacket now and thats really well made and fits well so would expect their other stuff is good.
Motomail has the Revit Off Track on sale for a little over your budget and some of their standard pants would get into the figure you have said, at the end of the day you get what you pay for and the better quality is worth it when its pissing down and cold and you still dry.
That looks like fun

Got some Spidi pants and they leaked like a sieve from day one  Slid along the top of a road barrier in my DriRider jacket and it was stuffed but I wasn't. I have a Spidi jacket now as it is warm and dry. Summer time she goes in the cupboard and out comes the Dribaby
Wife wears Revit and she loves it, horses for courses I guess

It's a bit of a thread dredge I know but I couldn't find anything current :D
Due to an accident involving scissors I need some new trou . I've been wearing Rally X for a while now but insurance only covers so much and I'm an invalid for the next wee while, so was looking at some "Nordic" pants on line. Does anyone have any experience with em ? or any other recomendations ?

Wondering whether the EVA padding would be better than the rubber hip protection on the Rally X  I really liked the Rally X, had 2 pairs now, but wondering if there's something else that is just as good or better, I fopund the Rally's flapped around and got burnt by the exhaust on the 350 and 750.

Could you just beef up the hip padding in the Rally X pants with some firm closed cell foam or similar? Hip padding seems to be pretty thin/nonexistent in a lot of pants, so I've made new padding for a couple of pairs of ours. I haven't crash tested them very comprehensively though

Yes... that is an option, but if I can get something comprable for a less than $250 than I'll have give it a shot. A new helmet will gobble up most of the available funds, without dipping tooo much into future international adventure funds

have you looked at ridersdiscount.com. Real good prices and cheap freight, and without starting a buy locally row, I was comparing same same brand, size etc on a top of the line jacket with NZ suppliers and would have saved $380 buying from USA.
My spool pants are about 8 years old now and apart from a split crotch they are in excellent nick, if thats any help.

After the Trans Alpine Scooter Safari (you know you all want to donate to the cancer society - http://www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/ryancooney/) you can have my pair of Nordics if you want them. They've had minor use and have a couple of minor holes on the shins where stones have hit. Only thing is they are a little big on me around the waist so might be way to large for a rake like you.
They are like wearing a pair of thermally lined yellow PVC trou. I get wetter on the inside on a dry day than the rain makes the outside on a wet day. Definitely don't work for me and ADV riding. I've not looked at them for about 3 years now but I think the padding is marginally better than the RallyX. I'm still a big fan of motox trou with knee pads and if you're worried hip pads maybe some padded shorts (http://www.cycletreads.co.nz/products/429-rider_gear_undergarments.aspx?terms=hip)

"Rake like me"...HA !:killingme We haven't seen each other for a while then, I gave up smoking for a couple of years
Anyway... Good info on the Nordics, I don't want or need thermal liners so could just end up with another pair of Rally X. I got the last pair from here >>http://shop.peterstevens.com.au/home but I couldn't see them there this time. *edit...just found em :D *
I had no idea about the shorts from cycletreads either (NOOB !) could be an option  I was wearing cycle shorts but they suffered the same fate as the trousers.
Yes Nordie, I shoulda listened to my mother  she warned me about scissors, riding bikes and strange men
