Now a dingo didn't steal my baby but she is sick. :crybaby:

She's a 1998 CB600 and is riding like she's about to run out of fuel.

After 4 days off the road I took her to work and was fine but when I went to leave didn't get warmed up and never got to normal idle speed. Revs sit just above 1000 but has that "uh oh, just about to run out of fuel feel". Now there is
plenty of fuel so I know it's not that and she runs the same even if I select reserve tank.

Fortunately I was close to Hampton Honda who had a look and a poke. They thought of maybe the plugs and some other things I can't remember. Sorry I'm still green and dumb when it comes to bikes!!

So far I have only got tank off and looked at plugs from above, need a bloody longer and thinner tool (insert willy jokes here ->). Once I find one, any ideas people, I'll be in like Flynn and can check them out.

Does this seem likely or what about the fuel injection, carb, totally knackered engine? I was able to ride all the way home but she was pretty grumpy about it. One thing I noticed when I got her home was that at idling, every few seconds she would have a split second burst of normality...revs would go up, sounds normal and felt normal.

Don't know if any of this info helps but I would be very grateful for any advice, whether it's what the prob would be, where to get tools, things to avoid doing, anything, just get Connie better again.

If I had her all in one piece I would have dragged her along to Wed night evening, top people there.

Cheers to you all
Steve

The intermittent nature of this makes me think electrics. If you can't get straight in at the plug(s), can you use a flexible or universal drive?

The advice I've read says to always start with a brand new spark plug and see how that goes.

Yeah i would be checking thoes plugs, also fuel filter and air filter.Has it been out in the rain? I had a similar problem and that ended up being moisture in the ignition barrel causing internal shorting, would still run but like a bag of ass.

Cheers all,

What I've ended up doing was putting brand new plugs in and new air filter. Also had a suggestion to run a bottle of Wynns Carb' cleaner over two tanks through her which I've also done.

The old plugs were well knackered!!

She didn't come right immediately, but there was a funny sound and then all came right. It was after that, that I ran the Wynns through.

Next on my list (I should have done this before now!!) is to check the plugs in case any shite has been cleaned out but is now sticking to them. I think she's due for a tune up too, sounds expensive though.

Thanks to all from various threads that helped her out.:done:
