I've voted yes for boobs on bikes cause it sounds like a good idea to me, however, I don't really know what the issue is here, I suspect it's more than a campaign to have lovely jubblies on show more frequently.

No, I'm completely out my depth on this one, why would you complain at a free drive by fun bag display?
Surely there are more important things to complain about, Perhaps the drive by shootings or the rampant crime wave in south Auckland.
No, lets complain about smooth pink and round love pillows instead, far more of a threat to society. :girlfight:

If that doesn't show you just how mesmerised the guys (and some gals I notice) were with the truck drivers tits that Lisa Lewis sports what would? 100% vote I'd say. Banksy is a Christian man & quite right winged so very possible he has opposed it.
I lived in Aucka-Loffa for 10 years & would say IMHO he is the best mayor they have ever had in recent times. I don't agree with everything he says or does but the vast majority I do, his personal life is his own in my book, at least he is a real leader, makes a decision & sticks to his guns, solid back bone :niceone:

Another subject that gets murky....
I don't object to boobs. In fact I like boobs. A lot. (Ask my wife!!!) I do have a few reservations about this "parade" though, and I'll try to explain why.
One concern with this so-called "parade" is that it has everything to do with Steve Crow's profit margins, and the more controversy he can generate the bigger his profits get. Nobody could afford the advertising publicity that goes with this "parade" due to the Herald and the TV news cameras following and profiling the event in the name of public interest. Anyone with a publicly expressed objection gets subjected to name-calling to beat them into submission.
Another concern with this "parade" is: would I want my kids to watch it? In other words, is a busy public street at midday an appropriate place for semi-naked women? Personally I don't think it is, regardless of the enthusiasm for it by a relative minority. If a public beach requires signage advising of nudity, and a cinema requires age restrictions, why should this commercially oriented "parade" be allowed? We rationalise it by saying "just stay away if you have a problem with it" or "lighten up man, it's just harmless fun" but guys like Steve Crow will only push the boundaries further if given half an opportunity.
Steve Crow is an astute businessman, with a shrewd marketing mind. The public are being expoited by this "parade" and are all too preoccupied with the boobies to care.

Why are people so breast shy? What is wrong with kids seeing them? Dam it, most of them were raised on one, so how can see them cause them problems? Think it is the Adults who have the problem and it is about time they got over it.

What puts me off is the bikes and the tossers riding them. I could have this all wrong but it is no surprise to me that they seem to be predominantly HDs with what seem to be to me the typical stereotypical HD owner "wannabe" riding them. I suppose if that is what you have to do to get up close and personal with a big pair of boobs then so be it. Just a shame they're on bikes, even if they are HDs.

Steve Crow is an astute businessman, with a shrewd marketing mind. The public are being expoited by this "parade" and are all too preoccupied with the boobies to care.
I agree with Max. This 'parade' really is advertising for the erotica expo in disguise. Hopefully the punters will realise that and do what people usually do when presented with advertising - "change the channel".
You can't advertise products using topless chicks on tv at a time when children could see them, and people generally expect to bring their ids to the beach without being flashed by a whole lot of breasts.
Whether you agree or disagree with community and advertising standards in general, if there are standards there should be consistency. Thats why I'm opposed to the parade.
Bikers who just want to see some tits and support the parade are missing the bigger picture. The association with bikes reinforces the public image of bikers as leering chauvanistic harley-riding wannabe bad boy trouble-making wankers. This does not help us when we ask for public support on bike-friendly initiatives like more bike parking, or road-safety issues like the cheesecutter campaign.
A public stance against the parade would be good publicity for bikers and generate good will. If you really want to see some tits you should go home to your missus, or if you don't have one never mind - no-one ever died if they didn't see tits.

If you really want to see some tits you should go home to your missus, or if you don't have one never mind - no-one ever died if they didn't see tits.
Freedom is the real issue. The government telling people what they can do with their bodies. "Boobs on parade" pushes every up tight assholes buttons. "How dare them show their lush, ample, pert breasts!" And inside, they long to be just as free, but their social conditioning doesn't allow them to be so free with themselves. And when in doubt, say it will ruin our children! They may emulate that horrid behaviour. They may even get, LUSTFULL! (Which we all know leads to getting pregnant) NOOOOOOOO, SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!!!!
Death isn't the issue, its suffering to the point of death. Tits are great and should be displayed whenever and wherever. A man can take his shirt off and its not big deal, but a women does it, on a bike nonetheless, and its a big issue. Crazy world we live in.

Hey. Here's an idea. Mr Crow sends his Hardleys along, with boobies. But, to show how socially responsible and God fearing and wot not the biker community is, a bunch of bikers ride on each side of each booby-bike, holding up sheets , so that the general public are spared the devastating sight of a bare boobie.
And, best bit of all, the sheet carrying bikers could charge anyone who wanted to perve at the boobies a fee to ride pillion.
Everybody wins. Mr Crow gets his publicity. The bikes get a free perv PLUS pillion fees. General pervs get to perv (and up close, too). And Mrs grundy is spared the knee trembling experience of glimpsing a bare nipple.

Yes it is a valid point - but - The Minister for Courts rides a Yellow Rocket III. Several senior cops I know ride GSX1400s. People at all levels of government, Transit, ACC, - ride.
'Sheltered granny' from Te Awamutu might have her blinkered ignorance confirmed by the use of motorcycles in the parade - but I doubt it.
Everybody I know in 'the process' will see vehicles, and a wider social comment.
What adversely effects things like the political campaigns far worse than schmucks on Harleys in a pron show is that there is only a hundred or so members of BRONZ.
Sorry for being so direct - I'm Australian.

I voted to ban it, on the basis they are ugly hoes that I dont ever want to see, as well as if I wanted to look at tits i would go to a tittie bar.
Also I dont think its right that blantant degradation of woman should be endorsed in one of main streets of our country as well is a good demonstration to our youth of the way woman should be portrayed? particulary when its a stunt for a fat prick trying to sell tickets to a sex toy show.
Standards in NZ are falling and I think this crap is best left to those who seek it as opposed to it being waved in the faces of the public going about there business on a public road, wether they like it or not.

'Sheltered granny' from Te Awamutu might have her blinkered ignorance confirmed by the use of motorcycles in the parade - but I doubt it.
..
Y 'know , I'm sitting here think how my granny would react to a "boobs on Bikes Parade". I knew her pretty well (and my great grandmother , and great-great-grandmother , not so well). She was born and raised when Queen Victoria sat firmly on the Imperial throne (they all were actually) and was pretty representative of the era.
I don't think she'd have been wanting the council to ban it. She had very firm notions of the role of government , local or national, and I think she would have reckoned that such a matter was none of their business. But-- if she'd been there when they rode down the road, I'm very sure she would have upped with her umbrella and whaled the daylights out of all the girls, for being shameless brazen hussies (she was a tiny thing , 4'10", but cross her at your peril. That umbrella was a deadly thing, backed up with a 12 inch hatpin for more serious problems. She used the latter, too, through a mans eyeball. Don't cross old ladies). And expected all the other ladies (and I used that term very specifically, as she would have) around to back her up.
Which really is what it comes down to in my opinion. Morality is no business of politicians. It's a matter for the people involved- participants or spectators. And the objectors seem to be objecting more for political than ethical reasons . I'd be quite happy to see Ms Casey getting stuck into Mr Crow with an umbrella.Cheer her on and all. I'm less happy with her dictating what I can look at because she finds it offensive (or , even worse, she doesn't find it offensive, but claims that some, unknown and unidentified, person 'might')

Dom Post this morning had an article telling us that Lisa Lewis had written a letter of support for Crow to John Banks.
She's from Hamilton like Quasi so I guess that would really rate in Banksies eyes eh

Morality is no business of politicians. It's a matter for the people involved- participants or spectators.
Bollocks, what about Censorship? I expect the government through its agencies to have structures in place to prevent my children going to see a movie which would be inappropriate such as a porno, and boys being boys will go to see whatever they can get away with, luckily I as a parent can rely on the fact that when I drop them of to see pirates of the caribean rated M they will because structures and censorship laws stops them from seeing SAWIII rated R18, censorship has a place in this situation.
I also expect the local government to have laws in place to safe guard my family from seeing naked men running around Hamilton lake, I also expect the same laws to "safeguard" the family from seeing naked woman on bikes promoting a porno show in Queen st, and I see zero reason for this to go ahead particulary in the middle of the day.
Keep in mind the whole damn contraversy is about promoting a porno expo which is luckily R18...........why isnt this rating carried onto public streets?

New Zealand really does amaze me. On one hand I must say in general you guys come across quite conservative and on the other hand I read this thread. As someone who comes from a country that still DOES NOT legalise prostiution say I say good on ya. If only our government had the balls to make such a sane decision.
Not knowing much about Mr Crow and his enterprises it is very difficult to comment on his business enterprises, however his marketing strategy is genius TNA as it is over here. I guess I am in two minds about this procession, one the one side I am all for freedom of speech, expression etc and a woman's right to do whatever she wants with her body but on the other hand I am a little freaked out by the notion of a parade that promotes women as porn objects especially to children. And why only women why not promote male porn stars at the same time just to demonstrate equality at its best!
I do not have a problem with boobs in public and think that children seeing them will hopefully help them not to have issues relating to the human body. But I would hope that there is an array of boobs so that both boys and girls are not only shown fake plastic boobs as if this is what is the norm and should be aspired to.
I have voted to keep the parade so that if in the future such a parade for a worth cause is requested it is not going to be turned down due to past presidence..

Bollocks, what about Censorship?
Never been at all keen on that. Y' start out censoring boobs, it's not a long step to censoring opinions. If Ms Casey is entitled to tell us what we may be permitted to look at, then it's won't be long before she demands the right to tell us what we can say, and think as well. In fact, censorship of politically incorrect thinking usually precedes censorship of sexual content. Look at KB!
As for children, if they are old enough to be free of parental vigilence they are old enough to cope with the facts of life.

This parade should be banned.
It shamelessly promotes motorcycles, in front of pedestrians, and users of public transport, as well as NORMAL motorists, who find their carparks and footpaths clogged with motorcycles and scooters.
Motorcycles are evil, they are popular with motorcycle gangs, and other anti-social groups.
Motorcyclists cost legitimate road users thousands, even millions a year in hospital costs. NORMAL motorists actually subsidise the motorcycle ACC account.
This is money that could be used for hip operations or herceptin, but instead is squandered indulging a minority their perverted enjoyment.
I urge all free-thinking people to ban this parade, and join together to campaign for the bannng of motorcycles, as they are noisy, unsafe, scare dogs and children and are offensive to all except their perverted riders.

Thats stupid, comparing women exposing themselves in a promotion of a porno expo to censoring what we can say.................that is a huge leap and one which I think is a little on the extreme.
Why does the fabric of human decency have to be released for a dropkick to promote a porno show ? whats next after that ?
as for children ....parental vigilence.....facts of life point, thats not a fact of life, its not a fact of life that children should expect to see this kind of behaviour.
The event promoted is R18, please explain why the R18 rating is not applicable on public streets ?
So you are saying that as parents we should encourage our children to see this..................should we be better served protecting them from this?
whats more important a hoes showing thier tits or the moral fabric of our society, and the respect we should hold to women.
Lastly, if it was wangers on wheels would your arguements remain............and the difference is what ??
personally I dont realy care its in Auckland, what happens up there is usually a bit different to the rest of the country, shit you cant get a street race but your good on getting this crap going ffs

whats more important a hoes showing thier tits or the moral fabric of our society, and the respect we should hold to women.
No, actually I didn't say that. In fact I said (or implied) the reverse. Parents certainly should DIScourage their children from sneaking off to see such things (I say "sneaking off" since obviously they could not expect approval to go and see them). Parents set the standards and expectations. Would I want a child of mine , of tender years , going to see such an exhibition? No, and if he (or she) sneaked off to do so, he would expect a clip upside the ehad if caught (she, referred to Mum). But that is not a reason for banning it. It is not being held at a school or othe rcongregation palce of children. It is well signalled in advance. Parents are able to forbid their children to go and look if they see fit
Lastly, if it was wangers on wheels would your arguements remain............and the difference is what ??
Yes. My argument would be the same. Nasty ? Yes. Sleazy ? Yes. Would I go, to look at either tits or wangers ? No. Would I cheer on a Granny who gave Mr Crow and his tittys an umbrella walloping. Yes.
But - I don't elect city councillors to pass laws on morality. If we accept that is a valid function of local politicians, then how long before we end up with Councillor Tamaki? Or the local equivalent of an ayotollah?
Would you accept that the same logic that justifies Ms Casey banning what SHE thinks "offensive" would apply to a female Muslim demanding a ban on all women who are not wearing a burkha? Foillowers of Sharia law find that offensive , too.
Why is Ms Casey's opinion of "offenisve" to be enshrined in law, but not Fatima-binti-Ali's ?

Your obvious problem is "envy" and your obvious option is, to "attend" or not "attend" the parade! Simple really. :shifty: Your choice!
Freedom is like that, it lets us make up our own minds and allows us to mind our own business at the same time! :niceone:
I won't be attending but I enjoyed the freedom to "make my own decision". I hope those that do go, really enjoy it.
I also hope "Steve" gets his money back and/or makes a tidy profit. :blip: Cheers, John.

People have th right to do whatever they like but what I was asking is is it right to call these women feminists? Do you honestly think that before they took on such a job they decided to do it for feminists princples such as womens rights and equality?
I didn't think these womens talents were their boobs in the porn industry I thought it was more about how much c*ck you could take up your ass or p*ssy and how good you are at deep throat etc? Or maybe I have watched the wrong porn:lol:
Everyone in society has a role to fulfil and it should be everyones choice to do what they want re work (as much as it is feasible). But for me the best examples of women fighting for equality are women doctors, lawyers, members of the clergy etc. Women doing well in indutries and sectors where they have been excluded for so long are the women that I have the most respect for IMHO. And I am not a feminist and never will be.

There's certainly some truth in what you say. But, lets not forget that if everyone had self esteem, where would we get all the hoes and strippers we need? Brothels would go empty, the porn industry would collapse, priests would continue boning choir boys! People seem to forget this little detail at times.

Yeah Aucklanders I asked before who is going to be out with their cameras tomorrow to assist us deprived souls that only get Santa parades or bloody marches on Parliament and do us a favour by posting the pics on this beloved forum?
And Scummy have you had to do such a bust (haha - or busts) as the guy in Hamilton, or does such excitement never occur in the Riviera or are you going to tell me the opposite, its just like St Tropez - no chicks wear tops anyway?

I will not be going to "Boobs on Bikes" merv, :crybaby: that's one of the "down" sides of living in Metropolitan Otematata!
We have had our own version of the event though long long long ago and I was there for that one. :shifty: John.

As one member of the public said last New Year "shee-it, I can see why ya joined the Police'
When he saw the Grand Canyon cleavage I was faced with on each side of the car.
Pissed Penguin territory is rampant with such displays...

Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a sight to behold. Literally thousands of women flashing their tits and more. Great fun.
The hotels give out flyers and they are posted all along the area:
Welcome to Mardi Gras. Have fun, but be aware, #1 rule is that if you piss on the street and are caught, you will be made to mop the piss up with your shirt, put it back on and you go to jail for three days. The police strictly enforce this rule. I am not kidding! Everything else is pretty much fine, but no pissing in public. :Police:

If it was just for fun like the Mardi Gras or hero parades I'd have no problem.
But it appears to all be for commercial gain, so that this irksome character who wants to put babies in porn movies on their 1st birthday can promote his hard porn movies - yuk. Dodgy and likely to promote paedophilia imo. But the promoters answer to hard questions - F the consequences - its about money.
The boobs parade seems as merely an ad or light introduction to a business that deals in movies of "collections of orifices" and visual depictions thought by both male and female censors to seriously degrade and dehumanise women featured on the Vids, who clearly aren't into it. Much like the baby this dude planned to make famous on its birth at Waikato hospital, no doubt.
Here is why the peeps thought of as wowsers are wingeing - its all about track record it seems, long version a bit tedious....

So all of this gives you the right to tell me and others what we can do or not do?
I can make up my own mind thank you very much.
Respectfully, I don't need your censorship but you are welcome to it of course. :shifty: John.

Call me old fashioned.....
but...
All this pallaver about women getting out their breasts (fake or not) and whether or not it is good or bad makes me laugh somewhat....
I dont for a second think that breasts are going to corrupt the minds of minors , but when they are stuck on the back of a bike, dressed in black leathers with studs and chains then you have to ask yourself if thats what we want our kids to see them as.... it IS promoting Erotica and that is the biggest excuse for a porn shop I have ever seen.... its not erotic.... its a place where u can go buy the biggest dildo or bum balls or whatever you can think of, for the so called cheapest price.... and maybe get a bit of a naughty thrill about being there.
Its overpriced to get in, its boring and has on offer the added excitement of meeting a bunch of has been American porn stars AND get to sit on their laps and get your photo taken.... sad and the parade is unnessessary...
I pissed myself laughing at all those men trying to get a quick peak at a bunch of blown up fake tits on a 'lovely' set of slappers... sorry..... SAD!!!!

I didn' see the parade unfortunately! But have been listening to The Edge commentary & debriefing.
:msn-wink: I have no problem whatsoever with women flaunting thier beautiful breasts or even bare naked stunning bodies (and Im talking about all ADULT women of shapes & sizes to, big ones, small ones, short ones, tall ones) if thats what they want to do, hey! .. more power to them .. I do have to agree with Buellbunnys comments .. it's the cheap way the beautiful female form is displayed.
For an event such as this & the capacity of onlookers that it attracted, those who put this together really could have come up with some brilliant ideas .. like body painting naked bodies .. or having bikes pull a series of floats with sensual dipictions .. the potential to promote Motorcycles & celebrate the beauty of the naked form is unlimited. Also its an opportunity to educate people about sex. A little creativity is all thats needed!
I feel we need to celebrate our naked physical form more .. but in a respectful way and one which balances gender equality .. :niceone:

I think the hilarious part was that we got 3 parades for the price of one:
* the boobs parade
* the boos parade (the bunch of ladies who stood their with their placards implying that after seeing a naked tit the whole crowd will instantly transform into a mob of rapists and child-and-female-abusers).
* The tiny counter-counter-parade of two goth girls standing in front of the mob of pissed housewives and holding the handwritten "Boobs are cool" placard.
Unfortunately, most likely due to the cold, there was a serious shortage of boobs on bikes this year - most of the bikers rode solo.

It's like watching cycling on TV, I get pissed off when they focus on cyclists rather than the motorbikes that are providing the support!
The support motorbikes are the only thing I like about cycling.
The boob parade would be the same, stuff the (false) boobs, show me the (real) bikes!
Not that I don't appreciate boobs, just time and place etc! :devil2: John.
