Hey, folks, an update of a previous question. Browning Optometrist here in NP did a bit of research for me, and have found a set of frames that are going to do the trick for me. They are Nike ones. I tried them the other day... I can put them on with my Shoei on, and they fit under the visor on my flying helmet. Problem solved! Thanks for the previous input

I recently got a new pair of frames - Puma. They fit in the shoei I am going to buy perfectly too. It is amazing how hard it is get to get a pair that is comfortable under a helmet aye!

Glad you found some.

Still havent found a set of frames that go under goggles though....

I've had a bugger of a job finding a solution, I didn't want to have several pairs of glasses. The Nike frames fitted just nice in my Shoei X-Spirit ( the X-Spirit is quite a close fit), and they go under my Gallet flying helmet just right, too. I have active noise reduction in the flying helmet, so the sidearms of the frames are a critical fit on the earcup seals.
I'm most impressed with Browning Optometrist in NP, they were very helpful.
Looks like I won't have to buy a Shoei Multi-tec after all

Dont let ANYTHING put you off buying the Shoei Multi - its an AWESOME helmet. Even if your glasses problem is sorted - the Shoei is still the way to go :niceone:

My specs and clip on sunnies are scratched to buggery so I need some new ones, but not looking forward to going through the exercise.

My current specs are the narrow type with clip on sunnies. My eyes are very sensitive to bright light, and being only narrow, the sunnies aren't much chop when the sun is in my eyes. So I tend to squint alot and this is not helping with the wrinkles!!

Guess I am going to need a pair for everyday use, and a pair of bigger prescription sunnies

My wallet hurts already!!

I'm jealous of anyone who can wear contacts, I've tried and my eyes can't cope with them.

Hey guys, I also wear specs but sort of alternate between contacts and specs.

I recommend if you guys got the cash to look into Ortho K, it's a type of hard contact lens you wear in the evening when you go to sleep. When you close your eye lids the hard contacts shapes your cornea so when you wake up take em off and you can see perfectly. It's effective for mild-mid shortight/astigmatism and it doesn't carry the side effects of having laser surgery as it's completely reversible. I looked into getting some last year but kept putting it off doing it.

Could be a option for people who can't wear contracts!

There's a few places in Auckland and through NZ that does this.

Had my bi-annual eye test done last week, and should be taking delivery of my new Nike framed specs this week. I'll report on their performance in due course

I got my new frames friday, didnt even think about fittin them under my helmet! Ive got a pie eater which is real handy to put the helmet on without taking my specs off. Dont seem to cause any trouble as my new frames are WAY bulkier than the last... being blind sux...

Step 1: Buy a helmet that fits.

Step 2: Take that helmet with you when you go to your optometrist to pick frames.

There can be a big difference between "fashion" eyewear and frames that work well inside a helmet.

Get advice from your optometrist too about tinting options. I like prescription polaroids. But there is a range of choices. Do your utmost to avoid using a tinted visor.

Thought about that, but I'd need a big UGLY pair of frames to give enough sun protection. Which is why I'll probably end up with an everyday "fashion" pair, and a bigger pair of prescription sunnies

Picked up the new specs yesterday. The Nike frames are VERY comfy... haven't flown or ridden with them yet, but they're showing all signs of being perfick. Will update after the first ride.

Do your utmost to avoid using a tinted visor.

What don't you like about tinted visors? Obviously they may be not so safe at night. Any other reasons though? I have a loan helmet at the moment (until the helmet I want comes into stock in a week or 2) that has a tinted visor and I've have to have it open at all times 'cause at night (havn't ridden during the day) tinted visor + fogged visor + fogged glasses = blind. I've been thinking about getting a tinted visor for my helmet but I thought I'd wait and see how bad it fogs up, then try various antifog solutions before trying a tint.

The loan helmet has no vents at all.. it is very basic.

Getting glasses was one of the things I had to sort before getting my bike licence, didn't think about fitting them under a helmet at all! But they seem to fit fine :)
