This has probably been discussed but I've never noticed it.

For the past couple of years I've been wondering if my motorcycle days were over. The reason was, I was having trouble seeing the road ahead clearly at anything above 80k. I played around with fairings and have threads on that topic, but no ideal answer arrived.

The one thing I didn't consider is the helmet. I have an FFM flip-up full-face and like it. Recently riding the Duke and wondering if I'd have to give up and sell the (newly purchased) bike, a headwind pressed the helmet into my jaw....and the road came into focus. Seriously, this was like a road to Damascus revelation.

Suddenly the reason for feeling constantly on-edge and tense while riding became apparent. The helmet was constantly moving, just a little, which blurred everything through the visor.

The end result is I bunged a block of polystyrene in at chin level......and it's been redline time ever since. :Punk:

Sounds like your helmet is to big/loose.Should be a snug fit, they do get loose with age as the polystyrene compresses.

wot 'e said... and it will reduce the amount of protection it offers in a crash, if it doesn't fit right.

Mmmmm.....maybe, but it feels comfortable and doesn't wobble around. To be fair this problem has only become apparent in the last couple of years, which is about the same time I had to get bi-focal glasses. The old eyesight aint what it used to be so anything which helps is worth knowing about.

I have a near new FFM, and it will get a severe buzz/vibration on at times. I can't wait to upgrade it. Earplugs mandatory! Its gunna make SUCH a good 2nd/spare helmet.
