View Full Version : Best naked bike handlebars?

I have just bought a sv1000 (naked version) and don't like the large amount of sweep angle on the stock bars. What is a good handlebar bend to recommend ie Renthal ultra low road bend etc. I don't want to fit street fighter style bars with a cross bar just some nice alloy bars similar to what is on a Super Duke. Has anyone out there with an SV or similiar naked bike found a set of bars that really work well?.
cheers

Renthal Streetfighters and take the crossbar off. Best bend I've experienced in motorcycling EVER.

Will taking the cross bar off weaken them or make them prone to cracking/flexing ?. I suppose they are not under a great deal of strain on a street bike as opposed to an mx bike. I suppose they are the same thickness as the bars without a cross bar ?
Cheers for the feedback

I'd be surprised if the crossbar was mandatory, but I did try a couple of other Renthal's without and couldn't get comfortable with them. The Streetfighters "fell to hand" so to speak and the crossbar actually fits the styling of my bike. I know what you mean about the look though.
I guess you could email them and ask.

Renthl's street bars don't need a crossbar - you can add one but its more a fashion thing. Heres a link to the different sizes available.

I'm running Ultra Lows on my Hornet - nice.
Alloy bars absorb the vibrations more than steel ones.
Or you could consider a fatbar adaptor and go for a fattie alloy bar for your SV - now thats some nice bling

Bolted on a set of gold Renthal Street Fighter bars , left the brace on but did not fit the bar pad. Bit of a stretch to get some of the hoses/cables to work due to the extra width , but got there in the end. Very comfortable and look bloody nice as well. Thanks again for all the advice/feedback.
on ya:2thumbsup

The advantage of the brace is that you can mount equipment on it, ie, detector, gps etc
You may want some of that kneed-it to thicken the bar, to mount conventional clamps.
