:shifty: A little bird spread a whisper of a Motorcycle Museum being set-up at Nelson airport

Word has it a Yank has purchased one of the airport hangers to house his collection of bikes ;)
With intentions to make viewing available to the public once he's set-up and it'll be at a price of course :niceone:

Apparently 300 bikes in total including Brough Superiors, a host of vintage Harleys, pommie bikes, Harley service 3wheelers, & a couple of OCC choppers.
And what will possibly be the main draw card of 4 of Evil Kinevel's bikes including 2 that he crashed during record jump attempts

In amongst the collection are also 6 bikes from the recent classics auction in Auckland.

Wont say where I heard this but it's pretty solid info and I saw one of the bikes destined for there today

I was reading a NZ Classic Car Magazine this week that stated the Nelson classic and vintage car guys are hoping to put Nelson on the map as the New Zealand centre for classic and vintage vehicles.

Omaka Aerodrome (Blenheim) is the southern hemispheres' centre for pre WWII aircraft, possibly the world-wide centre.

I would think that it's going to happen at the Nelson hangar. It's building, what with the Ferrari museum just up the road in the old Honda factory as well.

P.S. Got me a nice '73 Kawasaki Z1 USA spec import with only 12,400 miles on her, and will post up some pics in about three months when it's finished. It needs some work done to it but it's well on the way. Attached are the 'before' pics.....

But really, who cares about those old shitters? :-)

I got word from a certain bike delivery company driver who has been already transporting bikes there and has viewed 3 container loads of bikes that are on site waiting to be unloaded

That's one tidy Z1 as it is ;)

And there's plenty out there who appreciate these beauties

Awsome....be worth a trip up there for sure.My old man restored a 650SS Norton that resides in some transport museum in Auckland somewhere.

Hrmm, if it's in a Hangar at Nelson Airport then that's awsome. I can just grab a plane for a day and shoot down... infact, wonder if I can find a student who needs the cross-country practise

By "Hanger" do you mean they will be dangled from the roof, or do you mean stored in a Hangar?

As if you actually needed anymore good reasons to go to Nelson :D

Sounds good - would definitely be worth a peek when it's up and running.
