if you have to ask - you're riding the wrong bike.
Different chicks dig different bikes.
Want a bike bitch - get a cruiser.
Want a hot 18yo - get a sports bike.
Want a little boy - get a Honda.

I think you mean woman but I will take the compliment anyhoo. I must admit that I am into sports bikes and would never go near a Harley or bikes of that ilk but that is just me. Speed freak lover am I and although I prefer Suzukis I am getting used to the shame of dating a HONDA OWNER.

GET REAL! OF COURSE the bike matters!
Personally if the guy doesn't have a bike then I ain't interested.
Some of my non-riding friends think I'm crazy but I have actually turned down a bloke (who is HOT HOT HOT) cos he rides too slow (he is on a geriatric bike)... we went for a 'date-ride' and I found myself thinking "FARK! could I ride at this speed all the time???"... decided that I couldn't so no go there...
Ideally my man would have a bike that I also wanna ride... something like a Buell/Triumph/Aprilia... oooooh the fun we could have! Riding with your partner is like foreplay...oops! is that too much information?

To date I've had 4.2 million bikes and the only ones that have ever drawn the women into my personal space are Harleys.
I actually heard a ladybird say, as I rode up, "now that's a bike I'd like a ride on" Then I removed my helmet to reveal my bald head and metre long beard with corn flakes still attached from brecky and she said " you know, I'm so over that bike riding thing"
Bikes have never worked in enticing females for me, fortunately, I'm massive in the front trouser department, which seems to get me by.

Shallow??? Once again I have to say that those who know me know that my 2 passions in life are my bike and my critters. I have tried a few times to have a relationship with a guy that doesn't ride and it just doesn't work for me. I was miserable... it taught me that I need a partner who shares my passions. Is that shallow?
And lets be honest we all have our fav bikes... just cos I only named 4 brands doesn't mean I automatically rule out a man who rides something else! I also agree with another point made in this thread... that skill counts for a LOT!

It just seems a bit sad to see an ability to pursue one's own happiness as something praiseworthy.
It is a good thing, of course; it's just that seeing it as being a standout quality speaks kinda badly as to where the average is at.

MY OWN TAKE ON THIS: Seems to me it is often almost expected and encouraged for women to put their needs last..after the kids, after their husband, after the housework, after their parents and after their careers...there is so much expectation and sadly many of us buy into that at the expense of our own happiness. Ask any mother of a young child...she'll tell you how much HER life has changed...then ask the father how much his life has changed (NOT a stab at men or fathers btw!)...it is NOT the same and guys seem to be far more able to resist responding as expected to this pressure at times..so IMO women should congratulate each other for it. How many of you mums out there still feel at least SOME pang of guilt at spending money on yourselves, or going off for a girls weekend or even asking someone to babysit YOUR children...
A natural wish to compensate for said boys' lack of appreciation...tis all about balance, isn't it?
My man is wonderful in this regard  I do feel appreciated. He is very supportive of me getting out and about. I struggle with it at times as I was brought up to worry about everyone else first and to be responsible and take care of those around me and while I was brought up to be independant there was an ever present tension that almost negated that message - and I didn't even have brothers and sisters!!!!

That ever present tension is due to the culture we buy into. I think as thinking people, we need to act accordingly, not by what the culture says. It gets back to that question "who profits/benefits from this?"

It's not what he rides but how he rides it that attracts me. :ride:
Yep. I agree with this... and by "how he rides" I mean he has to be capable of riding fast and furious, but also capable of being generous enough to slow down and ride with me when we're riding together.
Picture this gals..... Red VTR Firestorm with Yoshi pipes. Bloke 6ft tall, black draggin jeans, black leather jacket, black helmet and tinted visor.....very hot indeed.
oooh MadDuck you're painting a pretty yummy picture, but I want to know what you've been doing spying on my man! (But he must have stolen someone else's bike coz my bloke rides a silver SV but accurate with the rest of the description.)
For the boys' education I'll tell you why this picture appeals - we like the 'danger' of the 'bad boy' who wears black and is all mysterious behind his tinted visor. We want him to be masculine and powerful. So yeah, any bike that's going to help give that impression is a good start. But also remember it's the whole package (so to speak) - we also don't want to be disappointed when we find out what's behind the visor!

Yes, it so happens that I think women riders rock, however, my initial motivation is that I was really impressed with her attitude.
It was a positive acknowlegment and gender didnt actually even come into it for me!

no, but not giving the bloke half a chance because he isn't one or two things on ya list is. Maybe your lesson is you might need to be more accepting of who he is.
He doesn't need to share your every passion but to give you the support in your passions an likewise. Relationships are about compromise, you don't have to be doing everything together - sometimes its quite healthy not too.
The key to your relationship is quite simply you. Just because he doesn't ride a bike is not the end of the world, you might enjoy other things in his company more. You won't know unless you give it a solid crack.

Hmm, i wondered about that. Almost all of my boyfriends had bikes and for the life of me I can only remember one of them. The BIKEs that is, not the bf's!! Andrew had a Titan. There. I can't remember what any of the others rode. As long as the bike was mobile, I was up for a ride. Didn't matter what it was.

Hmmmm... have we ever met? Do you know me? No... but you take one honest comment that I make and use that to form a judgement of me. Nice.
If I judge people at all its by whats on the inside. The guy I mentioned who rides like a nana? He and I are great friends, he acknowledges that he is a nana, we laugh about it  but at no point did I say that I won't be with someone because they don't fit my ideal persona.. However, I have been around long enough and compromised my own dreams and desires so often for my partner that I now have a much clearer idea of what is important to me. Everyone has a different idea of whats right for them, I am not looking for perfection, just someone who is 'right-for-me'. Bikes and dogs are my passions in life, if a bloke isn't into that then we won't be spending much time together...pretty simple really.

do you not see this as a contradiction i.e. mixed messages. If they don't like things that bark or growl then thats it then . . .
I wasn't judging you, only a mere observation as to what you are saying, putting out there. Do with it what you will. your choice = your life.

the rest of us have our OWN bikes thanks! :first:
Yeah, allright, point taken.
But I was genuinely interested in what bike/if the bike is important when an initial interest is created. And if a certain bike then is what is needed.
I have been to enough of bike parties/shows to see the hot girls hang around the guys with the shiny toys, the most expensive ones. Perhaps there is something else that pulls them, and these guys also have a shiny toy? Not sure.
However, from my personal experience, a show pony will pull the girls, but there is no guarantee that they stay.
And mstriumph, a girl with a own bike wins any day with me.

....Some of my non-riding friends think I'm crazy but I have actually turned down a bloke (who is HOT HOT HOT) cos he rides too slow (he is on a geriatric bike)... we went for a 'date-ride' and I found myself thinking "FARK! could I ride at this speed all the time???"... decided that I couldn't so no go there...
......?
OOOh dear, I actually went out with a guy once or twice and his driving a car drove me INSANE!!!! I know that comes across as shallow, but not only was I not overly keen on the poor chap - the driving s-l-o-w-l-y e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e all the time killed it completely (kinda refelcted his personality in a bizzare way). :bash: I know my limits.
.....
It's not what he rides but how he rides it that attracts me. :ride:
Gotta agree with that one - but its more than that - its how his personality is reflected in his riding style. He doesn't need to be a showman, he doesn't really need to be fast - he does need to ride smartly and intelligently and take of fellow riders and pillions.
Luckily there are more than one or two guys out there like that :scooter::wari::yes: Options are always good!!
Surely a Duc is the ultimate weapon for this purpose?
Girls?
OOOhhh yes - that would be nice but not totally necessary.
Dont really give a rats arse what my mans riding. As long as it aint some other chick!!

Ummmm what shortcomings exactly? Why does the bike have to be 'decent'? The fact that he rides would be pretty cool, and as mentioned earlier - the WAY he rides is prolly more important.
The only (albeit poor) analogy that I can thing of is like buying a house (oh god I can already hear the responses:Playnice:....):calm:
You want to buy a house (find a mate) and have a set of expectations yes? You look at a few houses (date a few men) and realise that given the choices (area, cost, # rooms) you have to prioritise your expectations ...... yes?
When you give up looking and then find the house (man) that you want - and it feels right, you throw out all your preconceived ideas and priorities and realise that a double garage was what you wanted all along!!!

In his case there is one more that he forgot (or left out...): "There are unknown knowns, those are the knowns we think we know all about but we really have no fuckin idea about"
And THAT one is what applies to males knowledge of females (apart from small fuckups like 1/2 a doz wars started in the last 50 years by USA...)

So, if you then pick one with a decent bike, then perhaps you can live with the other shortcomings?Well, the actual make and model of bike is irrelevant. The fact that in the first place we have something in common, like motorcycling is enough to spark an interest. (So I cant really over look the fact that the guy is a cock even if he has an awesome bike. ;))
But than again, if a girl saw a guy on a really nice bike I suppose it would that that attracts her in the first place... so umm maybe girls a little more complicated than you think. :)
