View Full Version : Leather trousers

I have recently purchased a pair of leather trousers and although they fit on the leg and bum I am finding that the waist is too big.
I was wondering if the designers of leather trousers design them for box shaped people or whether I am just a wierd shape. Has anyone else had a similar problem when buying leather?

I just got a pair from lifestyle imports on trademe.I'm a staunch Levis supporter and these are the same as my Levis straightleg.Low waist and great fit. I also got some urethane knee armer inserts off him and had velcro straps sewn on and wear them underneath ,they are completly undetectable.:scooter:

Back protectors extend from your shoulders down to your tail bone/hips....so you do your pants up over them.

I will have space for a back protector for sure and as I am moving to NZ I guess I will need room for winter wollies too.

I know that there are substantailly less women on bikes than men but that should not proclude leather manufacturers from designing leathers to fit properly. I thought the whole point of wearing letaher as opposed to shorts was to keep you safe and in one piece. Why should women with hour galss figues have to spend a fortune getting custom made leathers?

You're right, those are men's pants. You'd never fit into leathers cut like that, regardless of pie consumption - your arse would just split out the back before your waist filled out the top.
Buy some women's leathers from Quasi when you get back.

She has had the same problem all her adult life, really. Hard to find slacks or jeans that fit well, too.
Mind you, she has put on a little weight in her old age:shutup: and it's not quite as bad now, but she definitely has that V-shaped back and hour-glass shape still...

Plenty of chicks around with hot figures looking hot in 'off the rack' leathers. But like you say, leathers are designed to keep you safe and offer protection. Crickey's ... they'r not to show you off, thats what a bikini's for. And for the record....I cant say Ive noticed many guys wandering around in figure hugging, crevice rubbing, bulge stubbing suits???? or have I ??? lol:shit:

Ta hun but I am sorted for the mo and will make do with slightly large leathers I have just bought and pad them out with back protection, long johns and plenty of jumpers.
But if any ladies are looking to buy any new leathers just before Jan I could always help in getting them over to them.

I am a bit confused at the sizeing. My pant dont have any room for a back protector and thats great for me because it fits in there nice and snug. I wish my girls trousers fitted better we might have to get them altered The last thing I want is gear that isnt right. Does Quasi do alterations or that other Las in auckland city that does do alterations whats her name again?

I was lucky to be given some georgeous Dainese leathers recently. They are a ladies cut and fit perfectly. I do have a bit of a squeese getting them and my calves into my boots though!!
I had just bought some nice black and white Hein Gerick (sp?) ones off ebay, measurements all sounded good but when I got them home and tried them on they were too big. They are ladies cut also, just for someone a bit taller than me (I'm 163cm). I was thinking of bringing them back to NZ next year and selling them, what do you reackon, would I be better off selling them here?
Are you girls in NZ getting your leathers custom made or is the "off the shelf" selection pretty good over there these days?
I've been meaning to go to one of the girlsbike2 stores and check out their range.... Must get around to it whilst I'm still over here.

I checked out their selection and it is just the same stuff as you find throughout most bike stores. And bloody hell it aint cheap either. Mine are womens cut but I think it depends on the mood of the person making them that day as I have tried two leather trousers in the same size by the same manufacturer and the second pair the ones I got later are too big on the waist. I was wondering if it is because the second pair are racing leather and that is why they are bigger?? Who knows.

Yeah, I've done that before, bought a pair of jeans that fit perfectly then gone back and bought another pair without trying them on to find they are a bit snug!
There seems to be two different "European" sizings aswell. The Dainese are a size 46 and the HG are 42. In normal euro size clothes I would be around a 40/42 so it gets rather confusing. I guess the HG are based on big Germans whereas the Dainese are aimed at little Italians.
The London MCN show at the beginning of each year can be pretty good for a bargain.... The bikeshops seem to take along all their extreme sizes to flog.

Box shaped? As in square... didnt get that impression from your profile pic.
I imagine that any small town leathersmith / clothing manufacturer should be able to do something with the fit of your pants. The reason I say small town is because many of these little specialty businesses's are hidden on main routes in small towns but have some huge expertise behind the counter. Big manufacturers dont care about one off adjustments etc.
Good luck :)

Yes, the Alpinestars Stella kit is nice, the cut is very feminine.... I think the thing with the leathers is getting a zip together or one piece that is fitting in the right places.... the HG zip together that I bought would suit the typical "apple" shape rather that the Dainese "pear"....
Us girls..... I dunno....

Maybe I am just gaded being of that age that I was rejected by the air force for a training to be a pilot because I was female. I was banned from studying Craft, design and technoology for being a girl (distracting lad students), was of the generation of women that grew up in the UK not having the potential to race motorbikes. [QUOTE=howdamnhard;1681295][QUOTE=Bikern1mpho;1681288]
Am now studying psychology so am trying to develop the skills required to help people rather than be equiped with the skills to potentially kill people. And I shall be taking my first flying lesson when I get to NZ courtesy of a very lovely friend.
I will get on a track at some point although I think racing professionally will never be an option, sadly.
I think helping others is a far higher calling.Any idiot can kill something, but nobody(human) can bring back somebody from the dead.If everbody had your attitude the world would be a better place.Who you going to fly with?I've toyed with the idea of learning to fly but can't justify the expense, family responsibilites are higher.Perhaps one day when I retire, in the distant future.Right now I get my thrills on my bike. Will do some track days, not for anybody else and not that I'll be the best but for the sheer selfish enjoyment of it,without hurting anyone else.

As for flying lesson not sure by my friend and old psych prof flies with a group on the North Shore . It is so much cheaper than in the UK so more accessible for me there. As I have no kid and wont be I am lucky in that any money I have is my own.
Higher calling- well lots of peeps would disagree especially as I want to work with offenders. But flying a fighter plane is well a different calling- I think it is the speed that does it. Always have been an adrenalin junky so will just have to find my thrills n spills (not a track hopefully) elsewhere. And riding a bike whether it be track days or road riding should always be about meeting your own expectations not others.

I'm more familiar with Ardmore. If you got the cash and no other responsibilities other than yourself go for it.Life is about experiences and the friends you make along the way.Good pilots are normally the methodical calm types. The old saying that "you get old pilots and bold pilots, but not old bold pilots" is sadly often true in my experience.
Me I'm a little bit of an adrenalin junkie too and need it to feel alive, fortuneatly tempered with age.

I have developed a healthy respect for life what with age and death of my dad. I still loved the buzz I got on the back of OWNER doing a session at Puke but am realising more now that I am not the invisible wee lass I used to be and that injuries seems to hurt more as you get older. Hence the investment in good leather as opposed to what I have been wearing recently.
Yep you need to make the most of life but it never hurts to have a little bit of common sense in there too!! GOD I AM TURNING INTO MY MOTHER!! noooooo

Not sure about my better half but I arrive in Auckland 30th Jan!! Going via SF so that I can bring double the lugguage allowance! I guess OWNER will try and get a flight around the same time- he needs to change his ticket. I can't wait to get out of the UK I hate it. The roads down around Pompey suck for bikes, and I miss the roads where I grew up (Lincolnshire). Took OWNER up there the other week and had some awesone fun with and old school friend. We didn't do too bad on the Fazer considering there were two of us on it and Jez has a 900 and there was only one of him!!

I think a bit of that depends on whether or not there is a demand for your vocation.
Perhaps you should move to Wellington.
