wasn't that a great day, a few KBers there, about 17-20 decent people. stone chucker has all the pics so you will have to wait until he comes on to see trashey doing wheelies and bungbung leading the bunch for a while... :Punk:
great weather and around 150+ people/riders there so it was a great turnout...
just like to say, there are some pretty amazing people on this site and very friendly also...
ps: everyone say awww to SC, he was almost crying coz he couldn't get out on the trackhaving a holy radiator and all... :angry2:

Bummer on the radiator. Good to hear that it was a good day for some. I'm sitting here at work looking at the great wheather, thinking :devil2:

I don't cry! (in public anyway  )
The pics are on BungBung's camera, so he'll have to do the honors!
Yes, KB'ers are by far the friendliest group I have ever met. And WT, while your wheelies are downright wanky and cocky, I SOOO envy them :soon:
It's a strange situation at the moment. Quite a few KB'ers at Hooks', who stop drinking briefly to come in and check the site! It's become an obsession!

If I could get in that "paddock" I'd be doing silly and wacky things right now! My car slides so well on grass :shifty:
Uh oh, better run, TS is on a push bike :pinch:

I got a few videos of the Trashman's shenannegans, stupid camera ran out of batteries half way through the day though, so didn't really get any decent pics. It would've been cool to come to the party afterwards for a bit, but I was feeling pretty screwed after all that!

What a mint day. Track was a bit slippery though. Had some big slides from the rear exiting corners which messed up the speeds onto the straights. Deano had a wee slide too but I won't steal his thunder. Great to catch up with everyone and good effort for all those who made the trip from AK Tauranga and Hamilton etc.

Had a great weekend!!
Thanx Hooks for your hospitality!!
The track was slippery! Had a couple of two wheel slides on the duc through the ss's, but nothing to brag about.
Only took the R1 out once, It went really good apart from the front brake. The lever was comming right back to the handle bars!! I guess the fluid could do with a change!!
Was a bit unnerving trying to slow down from 220+!
Even got to ride our 748r race bike..
WHAT A BIKE!
That thing is on rails, bit of a flat spot mid range though.
Scuffed in my new sliders in.
Even had some tosser compaining about the sparks putting him off! (eh WT) :bleh:
Good to meet all you guys and gals from up north!!

Middle Row: Sels1, me, Velox, SpudChucka, Hooks!!!
Front Row: Lynda_Blair, distancing herself from NON-ducati riders. (HerB4 talked about joining her later in the day hahaha)

Here's a couple of piccies from the hairpin. Sadly my photographic talents suck so my atempts to get shots of KBers resulted in lots of piccies of other riders with the front wheel of the intended KBer being just on the edge of the shot. In the end I resorted to taking video footage instead.

Track day was good. Me not sleeping from Friday morning till Saturday night (after the party) was not a very good idea. I guess I was too excited or something... Ended up staring at the second hand of the clock for a few hours till the sun came up.
Max respect to Deano and Jimbo600 for putting out a respective pace given the fact that they don't race and they had sports (not race) tires. Jimmy (WT) was awesome to watch on that CRF250. Bloody knee downs and wheelies across the whole of the front straight! Good on ya Bret, Ya hoon! You looked awesome out there and congrats on loosing your knee down virginity!! Well done as well TS. Bloody good effort as always for your first time out there. It is a very technical track and you were doing very well out there.
As for myself, well I reckon it was a good effort given the situation but at least I learnt an important lession. That was, you need to sleep if you wana go hard on the track the next day!! (I know, I'm stupid but that mistake will not be repeated). After watching a video tape of myslef, I can see how much harder I need to push it for next time so thanx for taking the footage of us Loosebruce, Bret and Paula.
Thanx again to hooks and family for letting us crash in their place and for a great party with great food. Also cheers didi for comming along and helping me out with everything.

Back at work today after a day spent crook in bed puking yesterday.
Thanks to everyone who helped make it one of the best days I've ever spent on the track. Fantastic to see so many old friends and meet a few new ones.
I managed to consistantly improve throughout the day and by my last session, was glued to the rear wheel of Glenn Williams on his well sorted ZX10R race bike.
A massive thanks to Glenn if anyone knows him personally, as his advise was massively helpfull. He'll regret it next ime we meet.
Mini_hooks, keep asking the questions you are and listening to the answers and you'll go far in motorcycling.
Thanks for the pic of me too, Gunner.

Good work on being on Glens rear mate, He aitn no slouch so you did well espec considering he was on a race bike kitted out and stuff.
You looked sharp mate, I was watching my video of you last night and it looks all impressive.
Im not sure if you noticed but at one stage MR was chasing you hard and credit to him he wasnt to far behind, lost you on the straights but seemed to hang at a standard gap of about 100 metres.
Saw some amazing riding on the weekend and also had a bloody Blast myself.
We are already talking about the April meet, Man I cannot wait, might need some Corsas though the standard Diablo was at its limits ( I think)
The front slid once coming onto the back straight and the rear was a bit slippery putting the power down, might have been the dust though.
For me my Big moment was getting my Knee down for the first time, to be honest at the start of the day I was trying to get my knee on the deck but didnt succeed, some good advice from ole loosebruce helped ie Relax, I did as the day wore on and became alot more confident with the track and the last run of the day I pput it on the deck and I wasnt even trying to, it just happened which made it that much better for me, two laps latter it went down again.
Im still fizzing about Saturday. good weather, good people ,great track ,great bike (shut up non believers) yup damn good day

We are already talking about the April meet,
April da 5th has been canceled to my knowledge.
There will be some test days coming up on Saturdays which could be worth a look.
A plea to those with footage: Could you PM me if you have any video footage of me (fuck that sounds wanky!) as I want to analize the day a little.

Oh yeah, MR, that was a CR500 ring-a-ding-ding-DING motard, not a CRF250. Mental stuff riding something that feels about 6 feet off the track.

OK, finally my day... I had an absolute blast!!!
What a weekend.... Started of slowly with MR picking me up late (as usual) we then went for a "brisk" drive down SH1 (nnooo wasnt me getting the speedo needle off the clock  ) Finally got to Hooks's place at 2am (huge thanks to you mate for letting us stay there)
Early start to the day and we got to the track at 0800... Unloaded the bikes and got checked over... then it was off to the riders brief and then time for some blasting!!!
First session saw MR taking me around the track sightseeing (Cheers for that mate) as i hadnt been there before... First impressions of the track "Dirty, with a fucking bumpy hairpin, but i love it!!!"
The next session saw me starting to get upto commuting speed... Had a few moments with braking as my brakes need rebleeding, Im sure Craig Sheriffs was thinking "why is he still going striaght when im trying to pass him around the outside???" at the end of the front straight  So after those few moments i started braking at the 200 metre mark... Also has another moment on the left through the esses "DONT HIT THE BLACK PAINTED LINE!!!" and had a near highside (Which Hooks saw but no one else lol)
The session i was just working at trying to up the pace from commuting to slow, big thanks to Loosebruce who said "dont worry about the bumps in the hairpin, just go hard through them..." abit hard when you see a guy on a bike infront of you lowside there  ...
In the fouth session i finally locked onto svs, he was going really quick, and i was struggling to keep with him, but i worked hard and after about 10 laps i had caught up the 50 metres and passed him (sorry that pass was a bit dodgy, thanks for giving me room :niceone: )
So now i was finally getting someone to time me, and i was getting consistently low 1:23's so i reakon i did make it from commuting pace to slow pace... So here's hoping getting braided lines will save a second or 2....
Well organised day, it was awesome, great too see so many KBers....
MR and WT were flying out there (well done WT for keeping up with Glen :niceone: ) oh and WT, Bruce got footage of you getting your knee down on the motard as well as the footage of the motard wheelie and the gixxer wheelie.....
Everyone was riding awesome... Especially Deano and Jimbo600, you guys were flying on road tyres.... Maybe some racetechs for the next one???
Looking forward to doing it again :niceone:

Racetecs and an extra 50HP should do the trick.
Awesome day. Might have to organise a test day with timing and I'll set up cameras to record body position etc.

Hi Ivan and welcome to KB.
Sorry, I'm one of those selfish bastards who expects everyone to take heaps of pics of me but I never actually take any myself. I may have some on video though, I'll check it out.

I nearly did that in the third session while apexing the hairpin. Don't know what happened but I ended up half hanging off the bike dragging my left boot expecting to go sliding down the track at any second. It certainly blew my confidence a bit and I didn't feel too hot for the next lap so came in and called it a day.
Great to see LB, MR, RR and TS there from Auck, and also Quasi and DM. Sounds like you all enjoyed the track despite the silt powder that covered a fair bit of it.

HA!!! Must of done one of those power drill tricks that they do to harleys and BMW's..... I have seen 180 on the RG speedo, but there is no way in hell that it is actually 180.... more like 160-165... And i know that the RG is quicker in a straight line that a KRR150 too :shifty: ...

yeah, but the KRR on the road couldnt keep up!!!! He'd have you for dinner, mate ;)
Ivan
24th January 2005, 10:18
The RG is fast about 220 max. The RGV has higher top end speed but the RG has accel out of corners. The KR has about the same accel as a RG but is slower at top end speed but not by much.
