Chinese will celebrate the start of the Olympics on 08/08/08 but how many Kiwibikers will cheer when the Last Honda ST1100 is retired on 08/08/08?

I know a few people who have fond memories of the ole Hondas but few are likely to admit that on here!!!

I have done almost 200,000 kms on ST1100 and apart from tyres have only had one battery replaced, can't say the same bout BMW patrol bikes!

Have seen a few ex patrol ST1100s touring round the country and would happily use one myself if the war dept didnt tell me I have too many bikes already....So what is around the next corner???

That is indeed a sad day.

It rather puts me in mind of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukAhlxl4hmM) little video mocking BMWs and celebrating the mechanical excellence of Hondas.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you haven't seen it before Nodman. EDIT - you'll enjoy it all the more since the 'war dept' has been mentioned...

Definitely NOT a scooter or a BMW...I'd rather walk or push a Hardly Davidson

I used an ST1100 to complete the last Southern Cross - it had 189,000 kms on it and was runnin R E A L sweet. I heard last weekend on a Ulysses ride to Murchison, of an ST1100 with 300,000k's and still goin great!!! Who could go past that sort of longevity - shaft drive, water cooled, built in luggage, great instruments, awesome weather protection, fantastic gas range................

Long live the mighty ST

Yer kidding, Nodo!
We (KR) always reckoned they were 25 horsepower short of what they needed.

IE a 1300.

Bugger! I'd make a point of filtering a bit too loose and letting you pull me over with it for a third and final time, but the man from LTNZ came to take my licence this morning.

(You can try nicking me on the pushy if you like, but it wouldn't be the same, would it.)
