Howzit all, My name is Willem Mulder aka. Darth Fader (long story). I hail from Cape Town, South Africa. I am 45 years old and have been riding since the age of 19. My first bike was a Yamaha XT250. After various bikes through the years, I am now riding my dream bike...a Suzuki Boulevard M1800R. I am the President of a club that I started in November last year, called the Skeleton Crew. We try to be as active as possible in the biking community here in Cape Town, as all the clubs get along pretty well, and there are always parties on the go...so much booze, so little time...
Great to be here.

The roads are exellent dude...some of the best in the world I would imagine, with some amazing scenery. The speed limit is 120 and the cops are not too full of shit compared to what I've read on this site.
Cape Town Rocks !!!!
Good to see a familiar patch on this site...go Sacred Legion !! Yes...I did the Eagle rally...what a jol (pronounced jawl for you all you Kiwi's...meaning major party). Very cold as usual, but that makes it the Eagle!!!

Had a look and it has some features that we could copy. Only trouble is that whenever threads got interesting someone would always slip into Afrikaans! Made it a tad hard to follow. Nice site though.

Thanx for the welcome guy's...much appreciated. Yes, the change from English to Afrikaans on our site will certainly pose a problem to most of you guy's, but hey, give us a shout and we'll keep it English.

You will have to introduce yourself under "WHO ARE U" first before they will verify you.

Hi DF, also waiting for a 2nd email which they said they will send before i can logon. I was use to browsing the pontiff forum catching up with whats happening back there.
Yes, law enforcement is pretty tuff this side compared to the non-existent enforcement that side, but i think that in the long run its a benefit.
When i read that guys are in accidents doing 160k in traffic, then i think wtf, yet it was not that long ago i was doing it on the M5 as well.
Whats up for this weekend??
Cheers

Only 160???? What were you riding...a 250??? LOL...only joking. You are right...the cops here are now really targeting bikes, but for the wrong reasons I believe. The bloody taxi's are falling apart, but they have road blocks on Sunday mornings just to bust your arse for having a small number plate...not cool. The fines have been heavier for speeding though, but you don't really see the cops out on the country roads, so there you can open up a bit. A buddy of mine rode up to Mossel Bay (about 400km's) yesterday...his average speed was approx. 180, with squirts of 300 in between....and that's on the N2!!! What can I say? There are bike accidents just about every weekend...2 that I know of last weekend comming back from the Eagle rally...one was a buddy of mine. The licencing system in SA needs a major overhaul very soon !!! Too many kids out on ZX10's that have no idea what they are doing. It's them that have no idea about what it is to be a biker, they do not respect other road users, and it's them that give bikers a shit name to the general public.
Apart from a CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) bike bike run tomorrow, there's nothing else on in Cape Town this weekend that I know of....everyone is still recovering from last weekend...LOL. What's the rally scene like down there? I would like to know more about the whole biking scene in NZ...is it much different to here in SA? Please keep me informed.
Keep well and ride safely.

The people sound stunning as well if I go by what I've read on this site...BIKERS RULE !!!...ALL OVER THE WORLD !!!!!

I hail from Pretoria, where the jacarandas are plentiful and bikes slide like hell in spring when the blossoms are on the ground after a rainstorm...
1980 BMW R100s and an '04 R1200GS are my current rides.

Hey DF, I hail from PE via JHB, PTA and Nelspruit now in Auckland, Did all thye big rallies in SA (Buff, Rhino, Paradise etc) back in the day when the 900F and Fireblade was still considered cool. Was also heavily involved in Moto-X and Enduro doing most of the events such as Elands River, Baberspan, Sun City 400, Desert race etc. Have been in NZ 8yrs and started out here with a SV1000S, Then went to the Hyabusa 1300, then the CB1300, now have got older and am doing Adventure riding on a DR650. I also ride dirt bike and am currently on a CRF450X. The bike scene here is very small compared to SA and the roads, although they are scenic, are crap. The rally scene is pretty Micky Mouse, but hey, the population here is very small, so it can be expected that the whole scene in much smaller. None the less..NZ is a great country with most ppl being very freindly. Us jaapies are probaly more outspoken than most and very rarley hold out on our opinions and this can piss some of the more politically correct Kiwis off..but generally they a cool bunch. Welcome to KB and stay in touch.

Hi Socialites & DF
Another "overstayer" here from Midrand & better half's from PE. Now been in NZ for just under 2 yrs & settling in well. In same vein used to do the madass thing on Suzuki Katana when they were even cooler than 900F ;), then a succession of Gixxers. Now also getting restful & have just gotten a DR650 - must still get around to the adventure riding bit though ...

I'm Guilty on both counts Mate ... ony Joburgers that have had to duck & run - Cape's too mellow to run from.
But I did go to varsity down in the Cape & worked in Worcester for a while - does that help? Have at least seen the culture & learnt to drink Red Wine by the gallon!

I worked in East London for a while... and had to travel up to Umtata and Elliot etc... try East London, Queenstown, Elliot and back on one day... plus work... ;) speeds of sustained 180 would be the norm... wouldn't dream of that here...
