View Full Version : What would a KB copper do?
peasea

Scenario:
Big party, loads of bikers, a rally perhaps, live music, good vibes, everyone havin' a great time out in the sticks, nobody knows what anyone does for a living etc, no cell phone coverage, no video cameras etc...
You work in a blue uniform, so to speak, but obviously you're off duty and having a few, kicking back, talking bikes etc. Like I say, nobody knows....
You wander over to a shed/a bar/a table whatever and get invited to join in some 'fun' with people you've been in touch with online but never met.......
Would you;
Decline and walk away or
Decline and bust their arses for......
1) Smoking a joint
2) Smoking some P
3) Snorting some coke
4) Popping some acid
5) Popping some E's
6) Shooting some smack
7) Popping (now illegal) party pills
In other words; which of the above would prompt an 'official' action, if any?
Also, if that action were to be taken would it be taken on the night (right there and then) or would you leave it until the next day/week whatever, bearing in mind that if you DO bust someone they're likely to be off their tits in no time flat. (Plus, with no cell phone coverage you're most likely on your own.)
I'd also welcome thoughts from those who are not in the Police Force as to which of the above might/should be reason to get busted at such an event and why.
(The perps are not selling or forcing, merely offering.)
I'm just curious to see what drug it would take to cross the blue line out in the sticks.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely that anything would be said on a public forum.
Gotta have discretion.

I do know an ex cop who was put in this very posistion when he was in the force. Went to a party with his new lady, first time he had met any of the party goers, and when they found out he was a cop, the attitude of some changed. One young twat went up to him and said '' what will you do if i light up a joint in front of you''? my mate said '' nothing why''??
Basically told him fuck off and grow up.

It's matter of respect. Not only for the officer but also for your self.

I imagine they'd take a blind eye approach to the situation and nicely decline-and try to avoid the fact that they know about it, they know what things go on, and unlike the movies they do go off-duty (obviously depending on circumstances)

Yeah I think it's meant that it's unknown that the guy is a police officer, so not intentionally trying to test the guy just an unfortunate offering!

Bullshit.
My life, My actions, (not that I'm dumb enough to smoke weed in front of a cop, well, i don't even smoke weed but that's not my point) I couldn't give a shit about what they choose to do for a job. If they want to hang around with people who don't break any laws then they can fuck off to the police bar, Though that's bound to be populated by bent bastards. I know a few "social" groups where the token cop brings the weed for the lads.
Anyway, There choice to be a cop, Let them deal with the social repercussions.

Sure, it IS their choice to be a cop and they are often put in difficult situations off-duty. I'm just curious to know which drug on the above list would prompt 'after-hours' action, if any.
I agree with "my life, my actions" and if I'm on a run or a rally then what I choose to do is my business (provided I don't cause anyone any grief) but COULD you be busted at such an event? If so, for what? That's what I'm driving at.
I'm sure the cops who attend rock concerts know that half the audience is off their tits.........some get busted, some don't.

Years ago, a "friend" used to get the most amazingly pure coke available and at half the normal price. The connection was a Beverly Hills policeman. He sold the best blow and it went on for years. Apparently, the cop didn't tell said friend his employment for a few years.

Yeah, it was more just to point out that police are just normal like the rest of us.:insert ahh, duh smiley here:
I think in situations like the one you've posed would be down to the individuals own set of morals and in saying that different people would give you a different response. Not a postion I'd really like to be in hence my not joining the police force despite some fairly strong encouragement from a fairly senior detective friend of mine and members of my family.

Stunningly beautiful girl, Pity about the lack of personality and the HUGE drug dependency. Still, Was an interesting house....

The point with this scenario is that no one knows what anyone does for a living...I would expect the off duty cop would do nothing. But, would absent him/herself from the situation as quickly as possible, and probably never attend any kind of gathering like it again.
What a terrible situation to be in. I am picking said cop would have heads up a few to his/her occupation, therefore avoiding the drugs in front of them situation.
Cops as a rule dont mix well outside their own circle. Have known a few, and attended a few "Cop" parties. Anyone stupid enough to take the piss out of an off duty cop for shits and giggles deserves the book and then some thrown at them!

1) Smoking a joint - turn a blind eye....no harm done, enjoy your night lads.
2) Smoking some P - digg a little, note a name if its thrown around, dont push it though. Leave it for monday to follow it through....no place for a lone ranger here with this shit.
3) Snorting some coke - small amount: scratch around...some info could lead to the source. Big amount (scarface style) - bust....but again, lone ranger. Feeling lucky?
4) Popping some acid...refer (2)
5) Popping some E's - just a couple, turn a blind eye...user will be riding a wave of sunshine..dont burst their bubble. Bag full of em: bust on monday if you can get their details.
6) Shooting some smack....refer (2) & (3)
7) Popping (now illegal) party pills.....turn a blind eye....i'll take two.
Few things to note.
Remoteness: Lack of backup if it turns to shite
Crowd: If it turns to shite during arrest will you get support from the other bikers if druggy group decides to jump you.
Yourself: your name will be mud with some people, plus get some alcohol into them and things could get heated at the next rally.....at a guess anywho.

Why would it matter that the fella was an off-duty police officer?
Should any other upstanding citizen be more or less inclined to report such terrible, terrible crimes
What would it take for YOU to turn in the druggies?
Personally my opinion is that how other people choose to live their lives and get their kicks doesn't bother me - as long as their behaviour is not a direct cause of grief for others.
Now, if it was someone selling drugs - then maybe...
If it was somebody spiking another persons drink - definitely.
Cops are just like all other people - hey some cops are career criminals FFS.
Also, while I'm happy to discuss what I work with while "off-duty", I certainly wouldn't be wanting to actually do any work in my spare time - I'm confident most police officers would feel the same way.

Whatever you say champ.
The thread itself was based on the taking of drugs in front of a police officer (not deliberately) and their reactions, why does that need to be pointed out to you? Did you miss that small point that made up the entire first post and nearly the entire thread?
My point, was that its up to the cop to find a social environment they can deal with, rather then impose themselves to a situation where they are compelled to act.
In other words move on cop, Its your problem, Not ours. the actions of a social group shouldn't have to change to suit someone recently introduced, and in that situation you can't trust a cop for 1 second, Off duty or not.
I live my life My Way, and I couldn't give a shit how thick you are or how many words you want to use to call someone a wanker.

I think it would depend on each copper, but most would not want a relaxed cruisy night turn into a head fuck for them.
P would probably be the one drug that would have them keeping a sharp eye on. Hopefully more for the safety of bystanders, than the actual crime at the moment. (crazy situations develop out of that shit).
Pot, Whizz, Smack etc arn't likely to escalate into violent situations.
A good copper would gauge the situation, and know when it was time to seek assistance if required.

Shit you know that sorta stuff. Man I bet you could tell some yarns On a dark and stormy night................
A dragon lives forever
But not so little girls and boys
Painted wings and giants' rings
Make way for other toys
One grey night it happened
Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff that mighty dragon
He ceased his fearless roar
His head was bent in sorrow
Green scales fell like rain
Puff no longer went to play
Along the cherry lane
Without his life-long friend
Puff could not be brave
So Puff that mighty dragon
Sadly slipped into his cave

I certainly wouldn't be wanting to actually do any work in my spare time - I'm confident most police officers would feel the same way.
Correct, knowing a few cops, there are good reasons why they generally either a, stick to their own, or b, with close friends.
No-one likes to be "on the job" 24/7, and when off-duty, they just want to be normal people (like anyone else).
To give a rough idea, when you say you are in IT, invariably, someone says, "Hey, I have this problem...". Well, the cop equivalent is (having seen a stranger find out a friend is a cop) "Do you surf porn at work" and it only got worse from there, to the point we were just about staring at him.
Often, they will evade the question of what they do, something like government employee or what not, as the whole mood changes when people find out there is a cop in their midst.
Obviously, there is the caveat of severity, but everybody wants down time too. That said, its very hard to avoid the cop discussions, as they usually have some hilarious stories/obvious stupidity etc.

Just my opinion of course but I think its in everyones interest to completely f--k up these f--kers selling making and using p, there is just no place for the crap in our society full stop, look at america's problems with it, there prisons are full of the dregs from it.
As an x army guy (but unattending TF) I can understand why a police person would keep quiet about there job as I use to do the same thing especially while travelling as you never knew who you were talking too. Kill's a perfectly good conversation when they find out what you do because they can't relate, even though we couldn't give a stuff and what goes on at work stays at work....usually :)

I reckon that Mom had the right answer.
If you find yourself in a situation that you don't agree with (whether it's drugs / you're a cop or not / anything really) you don't have to act there and then to stop the situation occurring (in this case you'd be pretty out-numbered and not achieve anything anyway), but you can let those there know that you don't agree with it, and you have the choice to remove yourself from the situation.
Your "mates" should respect your views anyway, copper or not!
