Ok, big event this today that I was the organiser for.

Since Monday I have been following the MET service website.

Monday said Saturday was due for sleet
Tuesday said Saturday was due for heavy rain
Wednesday said Saturday was due for rain
Thursday said Saturday was due for light showers
Friday said Saturday was clearing

Got up this morning, looked out the bedroom window and sunny as.

Today I went on MET this early morning it said still clearing.

Looked at another weather forecast on another website - said just cloudy today.

Happen to walk past a window on the other side of the house, bloody dark and grey. Thought what the hell!? Went and looked out a window on the other side of the house.. bloody sunny as.

Half hour later walked by... and it's fucking snowing.

Checked MET now... says sleety rain (even though their radar thing shows only small lots of mild rain clouds).

Sometimes I just don't get these weather forecasts... :oi-grr:

Edit -

And now its gotten sunnier but light rain.

NZ weather really pisses me off most of the time! Just want to grab mother nature by the shoulders and shake her hard yelling "MAKE UP YOUR MIND! MAKE UP YOUR MIND!"

Try this

http://www.metservice.co.nz/default/index.php?alias=rainfcst_3daynz

you can make your own forecast with it if you like.

If its says clearing in a weather forecast, ask yourself, clearing from what, and clearing when. If clearing is used for a whole day's forecast, then I would assume rain in the morning, clearing in the afternoon or some such.

well there is an inch of snow on the ground up here in Greta Valley, so I would say that riding a bike today would not be a wise thing for any reason.
Bit of a bugger eh, the weather, but thats the price of living in the best place on the earth.
Its green because it gets wet..hello!

 Never trust the forecast from the Met service :oi-grr:

6.30 this morning it was clear here and by 8.30 we've got almost an inch of snow and it's fine again
There's plenty of crap heading along the coast on it's way into ChCh though and it looks as if we're close to loosing the sun again and in for a second dose of the white shit :slap:

Weather seems to be something constantly ruining my plans.

I don't remember this happening when I was in the states grrrr.. In summer you go to all the festivals and need a t and shorts. In winter you go to the movies or similar. You knew your place, and the weather knew it's.

Wish I could send the mob out on a hit.. on the weather.
"Youf caauzzed my asssoociiaate much duresss, and for thaat we muss puut youf outda buiznuss" :D

I just want the weather to hold enough until roughly 2pm.. come on.. come on... you can have my first born son and I'll let you rain for 30 days and 30 nights as long as you start after 2-3pm!

Just got sunny here again - not a cloud in the sky! In fact, looks like summer outside except for the little white flecks on the ground.

NZ is reputedly one of the hardest places in the world to forecast the weather
Because of it's size, shape, & geographical location. Meteorologists like it, it's a challenge to them

And it definitely can't be compared to a continent like the states

I'm so bored. No riding today. The weather is blustery, freezing, alternating with showers of sleet.
I could do my valve clearances but it's too cold and I don't really have the ideal tools, because I'm at my brother's house in Wellington. Maybe I'll go back to bed.

It's relatively warm here in West Auckland. 13 degrees or so. Single layer of clothing weather. A few showers, light slate-grey skies with a bare hint of blue coming through in the east, tuis chirping in the trees across the road... hard to complain, really.

Winter? What winter?

I think I might go for a quick spin on the pushy after I'm done digesting my fried mashed potatoes and poached eggs.

Right after I have another coffee.

Ahaha! Wait another 30 minutes, it'll be sleeting again.

Yeah it did start again!

But another 30 after that... now it's sunny again! lol

The weather here could be said to be a bit like shortland street

NZ is reputedly one of the hardest places in the world to forecast the weather because of it's size, shape, & geographical location.True. Most people seem to forget that. If you see multiple fronts and/or hi's and lo's on the forecast - then they're guessing.
