Apart from the usual catch bottle etc, the tether is the only other thing that you need for a street race. (that I know of)
Am stuck between doing this or Sound of Thunder down south.
If I find anything, I will let you know.

Entry forms are on the MNZ website (http://www.mnz.co.nz/entryforms.aspx).

Don't think I'll bet there this year. Saving money to do the nationals at manfeild and the Britten Memorial down Ruapuna.

The rule seems to exclude Japanese bikes? and your not allowed Alcohol or Dogs in the Pit ( what constitutes a Dog?) I saw some real Dogs in the pits one named Brenda for example!

Someone told me to look out for Oil sump plugs with holes drilled in them when buying a low k mint sports bike as this is a sure sign of a track bike

Is the sump plug drilled with a small angled hole then a wire threaded through and secured to ensure the plug is restrained from insecurity and thus a dump? I dont know. I noticed that the F3 Bikes at Paeroa are in many cases a pretty rough collection and all unnessasary weight is absent like primary sproket covers and the like. The last time I went they had supermotards in the f3 class what a farce to see as the sports bike try to navigate around the countersteering leg out Motards I hope they have a separate class this year? cause it spoils the racing for the Sportsbike. Stuff the motards let them get there own class I say. really the circuit does not allow for speed so its down to rider skill and thats good you could win on a vespa if you have the balls what a great spectical it is can't wait.

Kawa-kid is that a Motard you are riding or a canoe in your pocket?

More utter bollocks from Redstar!

yep what he said! Awesome redstar!

COME ON KB! get behind EBR, if not for me then for the other KB members associated with the team! Aiming to put on as professional an image i can on the shoestring budget ive been awarded from the bank of NODMAN (thankyoo!:spudbooge ) all help is accepted and appreciated, lets go have fun i also have 1 of the 2 Eh Boy Racing umbrellas currently unmanned (or unwomanned as the case is) should anybody know anybody/have sister/have daughter:devil2: that wouldnt mind holding an umbrella over my grateful self  Also could be looking for someone to ride the race-lookalike street VFR400 down should shadey be unavailable due to work.

Wanting to make this paeroa something special on the EBR side of things as its the best thing i can do considering it'll be my first time out on paeroa so getting good places in the races are almost out of the question (though anybody who's previously raced it-im dead keen to hear your experiences and thoughts as im going in there a little blind!)

and just for those that are here and see this

http://www.ebr.zyns.com (http://www.ebr.zyns.com/)
its the EBR site! only its far from finished and takes a little to load that first startup, worth a browse if you have the time i feel. Thankyou all :)

BUT, does it have to be a full licence??? Please say no..... otherwise, can we swap bikes (just for the day)???

Oh yeah and is it only $75?

18th January 2005, 17:33
The licence thing must a concession thing for council etc to give the ok to race -perhaps also for idemnity insurance purposes? Anyway yep you need a motorcycle road licence as well as your MNZ licence for Wanganui so I guess Paeroa will be the same. Not sure on the learner's thing. Guess if you ride the 150 you'll be ok Chris!

Check it out for sure before you go. Better than turning up and not being allowd to race

No you don't,14 year old Keegan had no licence at Nelson and some of the young bucket guys at Greymouth didn't either,it will depend on how they organise the road closure,it should say on the entry form if in any doubt check with the organiser

That Guy
18th January 2005, 17:54
Cool - must be a local rule then - check the entry form as Wanganui's states clearly that it is required.

Kickaha
18th January 2005, 18:45
I can't remember the whole deal but apparently there are two ways or different acts the road can be closed under, depending on which one is used depends on whether you need a road licence for the event or not.

Maybe one is a local council thing and the other a national one or something.

Riff Raff
18th January 2005, 19:51
Right I've been having a look at the rules:
If the road is closed under the Local Government Act 1974, then no civil licence is required.

If it's closed under the Land Transport Act 1988 - Roads closed under this act are typically main highways and remain listed as roads, therefore civil licence requirements apply. Therefore those on learners licences cannot compete. Those on restricted licences can, but they must not exceed 250cc.

So all we need to do is find out which Act is being used. The fact that the entry form requests full civil licence number is a bit of a worry.

If you get an L plate and stay under 70kph i'm sure it would be fine, oh and ride a 250cc or less.

The main street of Paeroa is part of SH2 - therefore the closure will be persuant to the Land Transport Act.

Ok, who's 250cc bike can I borrow? :(

I'll try to book my full test before the race then.

um er guys -I COULD NOT suggest this but should a person on a restricted licence enter a race on a bigger bike than licence allows and simply put their licence number down on the entry form . Unless they like blab to the organising club they would be extremely unlikely to be hauled up on out of class restrictions.

22nd January 2005, 11:22

Good to hear that you'll be racing there man!! But you have already signed up before 23rd of Jan '05 right? Last day for entries was back on the 23rd and they are not accepting any late entries.

P.S. They are not letting me go into more than 1 class with just one bike. So it'll just be Formula 2 for me.
