OMG! That's amazing! Is it just this one picture they take or is it updated often? If it is a one off not so bad I guess but I looked up my mums place and if the car had been parked a little closer to the road I would have made out the number plate...
Need more information before I make an opinion...

It's bullshit.
You people are happy to hand any form of privacy over, provided it's "cool".
There's peaceful anonymity to be had in a crowd. Google can GFT.

Who cares if someone can go see your driveway / house from the road on the internet? If google street view wasnt there, if anyone wanted so badly to go see your drive way / house they'd just go have a look in real life. I guess someone driving past your mail box is an invasion of privacy as well? I really dont see a problem.

when my brother was living in England last year I used google to check out where he was living. Was curious to see what the area was like.

Of course not.
I don't think this is breaching people's privacy... its just a heap of snap shots taken from PUBLIC streets carefully taped together innit? Be different if the places were private.
It is cool tho

As long as one hasn't got them as a front hedge one should be right. Right?

Seen the Google earth interface too?
I rang my old man in Sydney and told him the gutters over the kitchen are blocked.
He rang back an hour later and demanded to know how I knew.
If it's in a hi-res area you can see the strands of wire on the clothesline.

Our house is 100m from the road behind tree, so, you can see bugger all. Taken in early summer, judging by the paddocks, and I don't think it will be updated very often - like the maps.

Interesting. Coming home tonight there was a 4x4 with a weird roofrack coming out of an intersection. There was a pole, about a metre high on top of the cage and it had a small black box at the top. I wonder if it is a vehicle for doing this sort of filming?
Imagine the fun if you knew exactly when they were going to be travelling along a certain road...
