Anybody know much about these? Always wondered what they are like but never seen one in real life. There are a couple for sale on TM at the moment e.g. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=168339928. Looks to me a bit like an RMX250 but street legal (I know some of them were registerable but pretty harsh and noisy from the ones I've ridden) with pretty good road manners. I'm looking at something with longer legs than my Pampera, road legal but still quite light for trail rides, back roads and general fun riding, without going to high maintenance bike. Apparently the CRM250 was quite the bike in it's day -see www.crm250.com

You want fun riding? - go for the DT230. 165kph is pretty long legs for a 225cc bike,it'll run away from the Pampera. An excellent road bike, strip it down and gear it down and it's pretty damn good off road too.Traction control? Yes,but you'll be more impressed with the electric start, electronic power valve and oil pump. There could be one coming up for sale soon...just running in.But after a good ride on it yesterday I just don't know how I could part with such a giggle of a bike - a motorcycle of this size shouldn't have this much performance and toss around handling.

The CRM250 is a bigger bike all round, and would have more power and off road ability....but much less user friendly than the DT230.

I can't seem to find any DT230 specs on the net,but it compares very well to the CRM250.The CRM has 40PS,the DT230 has 39PS,with less capacity...the same weight and a higher top speed than the CRM250.I think it stacks up pretty well considering all the extras you get with the Yamaha.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I just have a soft spot for Hondas. They've never let me down :niceone:.

My DT has been seriously thrashed for over 7k my sons and I. Its been barrel rolled in the wairarapa, buried in mud in the Maungatukuku's, slid into ditches in the Rainbow and Motu Rd, its knocked over road markers and explored the undergrowth around Waikaremoana, Its gone belly up in mud in the Gentle Annie, and recently been thrashed through the sand and sea at Kawhia.

every now and then I oil the chain

If thats not reliable I dont know what is.

you cannot have more fun per cc in an adventure bike.

I could be tempted...What sort of $ are you looking for on the DT? What year and mileage is it?
