GSX-R400 (GK76A) Upside down Forks replacement

Hi all

Does anybody know what forks off other bikes would fit my GK76A GSX-R400 - it is a 1990 import (mmmm grey bike).

I had heard that the gsx-r750 forks might fit but have had no confirmation of this.

I bought the bike cheap and then discovered the forks were bent so need to replace them - good oppourtunity to upgrade them if i can - any suggestions anybody.

Theres a set of 76a's on trademe at the moment, from memory they're missing the top adjusters (have a pair of earlier model adjusters on them) but you'll have the 76 ones on yours :)

yea those 76a forks on trade me are 300 bucks fyi.

i have been told that the gsxr750 forks fit as well. Ive got RGV250 forks on the front of my VFR and they are supposedly the same size as the 750's.

i can measure up a mates gk76a forks and my rgv's to confirm and let u know if you wish.

the 76a's are a bit out of my price range but i am going to give the RGV option a go.

Here's what I remember from when I investigated this for my '92 Bandit 400.

Any set of Suzuki forks from any year would fit IF I swapped the steering stems over.

However, the 750 ones from the same year (1992) were a straight swap - they bolted straight up to the neck of the Bandit.

However, if you want to do the swap, you will need to swap out the whole front end, not just the forks.

You will at least need a new front wheel, new brake discs, new calipers as well as the forks. You will probably also need a new brake master cylinder and controls/clip-ons as well.

If you can find a complete front end at a reasonable price, it is worth doing. If you are only looking at the forks, bear in mind that by the time you have sourced and paid for everything else you will need, you are probably looking at the thick end of $1500-$2K
