Check this out, I think the concept is pretty cool.
They are a bit expensive to buy, but good old kiwi do-it-your-self ?
What do you think, could this be a goer ?

Fuck I'll say - I just spent an hour reading the whole thread, motorcyclist sure are passionate about their sport aren't they :girlfight::girlfight:

I hope this class takes off in the states and all the manufacturers make one, especially Ducati (I used to have a 450 Desmo single, bit of nostalgia here ) .

They are based on race motors (even if they are not "road race"), I would like to think in a couple of years you will be able to buy one new from (insert your favorite brand here) at about the same price as an MX bike. Of course I would want one with lights so I could ride it to work

Yeah mate i posted this last week too http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=79132

but my question is, would you race it in F3 or motards or both?
Would it be faster than a 600? my guess is i doubt it cos it would only have 50 at the wheel? maybe if you trick it right out 60??? but thats pushing it.
It would only be like 110kg tho so that would make it handle pretty mint.

I would still love to have a go on one, but i wouldnt turn my wr into one cos i still like getting dirty, which is the best thing about a motard, maybe not the best of both worlds but its pretty cool

I guess it would be in F3/superlight until there were enough for 450moto class maybe run them together like pro-twins.

I think motards took off because you can just walk in and buy a "RACE" bike - like MX.
I was tempted to get a motard myself. Luckily the Hornet and I are in no danger of being kicked out of clubmans anytime soon

I know that Yamaha has already made a few, but i'm not sure what's happened/happening with them. The retail in the states was 12k for a kit race bike, so im guessing about 14-15k in NZD.

wasn't the roland sands price 13k US for the kit, you still needed to buy a WR450 to make the bike,

these would be F3 bikes, can not see why you could not run these in there as a seperate points (similar to pro twins now) once you had enough of them, (sort of like the car production series now, 3 classes racing in one race)

I just checked the link that was posted, its $21k NZD for a complete set up bike.

You can buy nearly all the bits from them to make your own except for the rear shock and forks.
