Hey, I have a problem with my bike!! I own a 2008 Hyosung GT250R with 8,000km on the clock. When I take off from first gear and am disengaging the clutch, I hear a squeal that sounds similar to the rear tyre doing a burn out. This has happened about 3 to 4 times in the last week.
It seems to only happen when I need to take off with plenty of speed, but no red line!!! Just plenty of revs and holding the clutch in slightly for a little to keep the revs up instead of dumping clutch. The bike sounds really unhappy when this happens, like it is screaming in pain! Please help!! I am taking it in for its 8,000km service in a few days so if I could get some advice on what to do or what it likely is. Luckily it is still under warrenty!!
I am no mechanic, and I treat my baby with respect. But it sounds like I have busted something! Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

When you take it for it's service make sure you have a note of exactly everything it is doing and tell the bike shop. If it is faulty and still under warranty, they should sort it out for you. Definitely do NOT start fiddling with it yourself! I'd get it in there pronto, too.

Don't be silly - it'll be the power steering unit:innocent:

Aircon belt, only the GT650R was fitted with power steering.

As long as it takes two seconds to fix and comes under warrenty... I am happy! Thanks guys, I will do a bit of research on those parts (for my own understanding) and I will book her in for the 8,000km service tomorrow. Only had it for less than 3 months. When summer rolls around, the kms will go sky rocketing! Haha.

It is called a warrenty, take it to the dealer, do not touch a single bolt or you will void you warrenty.

Don't waste your time...we are only having a laugh. Bikes don't have fanbelts, powersteering or aircon. Do check your oil level tho...I have heard the same described noise from an RG150 that we thought had shagged the clutch. Turned out it was low on g/box oil. Take it to your dealer for warranty servicing/repair.

Hahahaha I didn't even realise!! I was sooo tired and reading fast. What a munter. I should be slapped for that.
Yeah I am not touching a thing! But I figured it was worth posting it here just incase everyone was sure something was about to blow up and I was stuck in town with my motorbike being the only source of transport out for me!!
I didn't like the look of the oil that was put in my bike when I had its last service to be honest. Hmmm, hopefully it is something simple like that.

Huh?? A bike shop is not going to use really crap oil. And how can you tell looking at it, if it's a 'bad' oil? Most likely was a synthetic mix, which these days is very pale in colour.
Your problem is not likely to be low oil, but I mentioned the RG because the sound seemed relevant. 2 strokes have separate gearbox oil, but the Hyobag being 4 stroke has engine/gearbox oil combined. If the level is low enough to cause clutch squeal, you will have other symptoms as well (like the oil light on the dash etc).
