Anyone heard of the KR Cup in the UK.They are racing production 2 strokes in a series over there.Sounds kinda cool to me could we do it here?.Don't think we could do it as a series as we don't have the numbers but we could run it inside the F3 club series with a points system and some sort of cup etc.I think at the mo in Auck club series there are 5 maybe 6 bikes might be a bit hopeful there!.But it would be fun seeing as it is quite hard to make these bikes competetive these days against the likes of Duc 900s SV650s big bore 450s etc, might even encourage a few more 250s out there. So what do you think?.

What?!!! Is he really suggesting we put another sort of class within F3?!! this coming from the man who always has a conversation to speak when it comes to odd bikes in F3 etc? :P hehe!
nah yeah, i think whatever you think... i think you should be the MNZ maker rules man-er or something! :)
I also WISH there was a straight 400cc 4cyl STRICTLY PRODUCTION class... wouldnt it be neat ? no upgrades allowed like...

There use to be a production 550 4 cylinder class years ago, and it was a
strong class.
With a lot of the older top rides rode in.
When Kawasaki released their GPZ 550, they sold them to racers cheaper.
If you did at least 6 major racers.
You if you get enough riders make any class you want.
Down here we were going to make our own class.
And were told that if we got a grid (14) we had a class.
We could make any rules or limits in that class.
We made a half hearted try and got to 6, but road racing was on a decline.
And some of the main guys just bought a bike that was better in the class.
As guys where getting out of racing and you could buy a good bike cheap.
We where trying to get up and going a single cylinder 4 stroke class.

Ahh should have made it clearer KK.This is not an official thing just the people racing 2 strokes in F3 thing it would be just a bit of fun.

Well - racing an RGV I think its a great idea. Then again if I had a 400 I'd think a 400 only class would be a great idea. Whatever it is (SV650s, 400s, etc) it would be gret to have a strict, current, production class. Tim Gibbes tried it with SV650s but it didn't work which was a pity. Back in the early 90s the production 250 class worked well.
F3 is a bit frustrating cause you get so many bike types racing in it - SV650s, Duke 750s, 650 Motards, ZXR400s (420s, 430s,.....) RGV250s, TZ125s.....you name it. A bit of an orphan's class.
I think it would be nice to try and get the SV650 production class going again - how many SV racers are there out there; and how many other F3 racers would convert to a SV if there was a SV proddie class?

There could be an event like the 'sound of thunder' for the twins.... but 'the sound of siezure' for twostrokes!!
I'm up for it. Nibody else will give me a prize for racing, so I'll have to make my own!!! Haha!
Seriously though, just a bit of fun for the last of the two strokes.

Thanks CG thats right just fun.As for sports production racing sounds good but that rules out production 2 strokes ie imported 2 strokes as as standard all are restricted, forget standard vfrs against standard zxrs as the zxr has more ponies.Would i race an sv.....well how much is an sv?.How many in NZ etc.Thing is NZ has a small pop so less bikes per head and on.We don't have that many second hand bikes for one make class...but i would rather the one make bikes were aprilia rs 250s.It wont happen here,so how about the extinction beckons cup or little end cup or I got the jetting wrong cup etc.

Screw the KR cup!!! How bout a KB cup instead!!!
But seriously, yeah we could have a 2-stroke 250 class within F3 I suppose. However, just like the SV stretches the "affordable entry level class" thing, so would the aprilia rs250 in a 2-stroke 250 class eventually. Also it would need to fund itself somehow to justify its existance - you can't expect the F3 riders to take an entry fee hit so you would need enough 2-strokes riders to pay for the class - however since these riders could just race in F3 anyway I doubt club/race organisers would put in this effort for very little gain.
Actually an "Extinction beckons" cup sounds good! How long before our circa 1989-91 F3 bikes are eligible for a post classics class?
And Bruno hows the NSR repairs coming along.....you gonna make me work for that 5th place outright in the AMCC F3 champs or be brushed aside by the more reliable superior 4-stroke machinery :) .....could even be 4th place if Wiggles doesn't sort out his ride!!

Hi Hoon.Yeah the NSR is comming back to life more money more life then more money then money......This cup would be unofficial just 2 strokers as present. No paperwork just some recognition of these amazing little machines and their last years on the tracks of NZ.Wiggs may have one of those korean sv 650s to ride so watch out!.Go on Hoon you know deep down inside you want to 2 stroke again, its wrong to suppress these feelings.I suggest you seek help soon.Try an rgv,nsr,kr1s or tzr then you will feel better.See just reading this will help.

Hey FF easy for you to say as you would be bloody winning the proddy 250 2smoke class hands down!!
and whats this std vfr has less ponies then std zxr crap, i know there are variations amoungst all the brands and in some cases considerable amounts, the most being my rvf motor 53hp vs zxr L motor (heard) 63hp?? that is alot, but who really knows, they all seem pretty even and hell i dont care if im on the slower of the ones, or the faster, whatever they are near enuf, aint no substitute for cubic inches so just as long as shes 400cc lets do it i reckon... anyway it would never happen...
however yes i think proddy SV650 class is about the ONLY one thats got some chance of taking off, not now, but in a few more years once they have been produced a little longer, a few more dogg' ones comnig into the second hand market and you have yourself a class. ill grab the first one i can at under $2K working, as most F2'ers would.

Yeah I reckon you're right. RGV250s/NSR250s/ZXR400s etc are mostly all over 10 years old now - and they're not going to last for ever (at least my RGV won't!) Once they get down to even the $5k mark I reckon more and more will make it onto the track.
