I have abit of wear and tear on the covers of motor etc from over the years just mainly paint worn off . What is the best way to sort this out so motor looks good as new ?

I had a minor off awhile back and scratched shit out of a cover, took it down the local panel/paint shop and they fixed it up as new.I suppose its like painting anything really, good prep work etc,not sure on what type of paint they used but many kms later its still as new.

Or just head down to the local Repco and get some engine paint. Does the job. If you use normal paint, it'll smoke like shit and smell just like it.

Speaking from experience here...

I did the motor on my dr when i tidied it up, just cleaned off the original stuff, smoothed it, and sprayed with the high temp engine paint i grabbed from repco

If it is black you'r after and you need a touch up to messy for spraypaint......hardwareshops sell high temp stove paint, just brush on.....
Bakes on hard when engine warms..

black engines are easy to paint, but like anything you get what you pay for. I've painted engine covers and its not a bad finish but a paint shop would be able to do it prettier.
